Crystalline love flowed down tan cheeks as he started out over the sea of people whom had come to the funeral of his best friend.

You see everyone else who has spoken today has said how they'll miss his persistence or his quick mind, and of course I'll miss those things to but they're not what I'll miss the most.

I'll miss the way the big geek always knew the exact date, time and places where the latest Warrior Angel Comic was going to be release… I'll miss the way he doodled on the back of important documents when he was on the phone. I'll even miss his bloody driving! I'll miss the way he used to stick his cold hand on my bare back just to see how loud I'd scream… I'll miss the way his ears turned red when you complimented him…."

The dam had broken and the tears wouldn't stop coming.

"I'll miss the way he hogged all the blankets and his singing in the shower… I'll miss the way he drank water and ate chocolate pudding… I'll miss his cold feet on my legs at night and his annoying habit of w-"

He ran. Straight out of the majestic cathedral, across the graveyard and out on to the road. He ran the entire length of Smallville, and then kept going. He ran to Metropolises, up the 18 flights of steps to the penthouse he and Lex had shared. Grabbing a picture of the two of them from the mantel he threw himself onto the bed in which so many romantic evenings had been spent, and cried.

He cried for the loss of his best friend, his love, his husband, his other half, his archrival. Lex had been his everything, but now his everything was gone. He was left with nothing but memories and in that moment, when he felt totally alone for the first time since the crash, all he could think was how much he missed the way Lex just being there made everything ok…
