Hi guys!

Just a small backstory, an explosion has just rocked Mobius City, Shadow holding the trigger. He is about to walk away from this, when he sees a silhouette through the mist caused by the explosion.

The lyrics (in italics) are from "I Feed You My Love" by Margaret Berger. Any Europeans reading this may get a sense of familiarity; this was the Norway entry in the Eurovision. This song inspired this one-shot.

As the ash falls around us, his blood red eyes highlight the darkness in which I live.

"A cocoon in a silent tree

Through the dark night you listen to me

When I whisper broken words in your ear…"

I stride towards him, his smirk a twin to mine. I reach him after what seems like a century. He is surrounded by a crimson fire, to match his fur. He is as beautiful as an angel, but as deadly as an angered viper.

"And you push; you push me hard to the surface

I'm blinded at heart but you wake me

You wake me up from the snow where I was born…"

I extend my hand to caress him…

"Now I can see

The whole world is mine

I can touch and feel

I feed you my love."

His skin burns my hand with a burning as intense as him. His hollow chuckle echoes through my head, sending shockwaves through my spine.

"You put a knife against my back

And you dare me to face the attack

You say, "For cowards there's no reward"

Feel the heat."

I strike him, my nails raking his face. He grunts in pain, it was unexpected. He should know why I'm angry. The city is in ruins; my friends are probably dead or on the verge of death itself. He always said he wanted revenge. I extend my hand once more…

"Take my hand, I trust your word

Bring the fire; I don't care if it hurts

I have the future on my tongue

Give me a kiss."

…help him up, and kiss him with as much strength as I can gather.

"Now I can see,

The whole world is mine,

I can touch and feel

So I feed you my love…"

I don't need anyone, as long as I have him.

"You put a knife against my back

And you dare me to face the attack

You say, "For cowards there's no reward"

I have the future on my tongue."

The ash and debris from the explosion fall like petals around us, a twisted storm of both guilt and euphoria. I have no choice now, I can't look back. I break the kiss reluctantly, and take his hand.

"Now I can see

The whole world is mine

I can touch and feel

So I feed you my love."

We walk through the mist, abandoning memories and safety for a small shred of hope, that maybe, just maybe, we can feel alive.

Just for once.
