I own nothing. It is all J K Rowling's
How can I keep screwing up? She brushed back her bushy hair and let it rest behind her ear. First my parents, then my friends…I just can't do it right. The lines of potion ingredients were blurring together. Mom and Dad can't agree anymore and I'm just in the middle of them.
She slammed the book shut and collected her things roughly. Storming out of the library, she ran and brushed tears away with the parchment in her hand. Thud, thud, thud, thud. Her steps reverberated off the empty stone halls and harshly back at her. Crap…her vision blurred so much that she couldn't see in front of her. She felt against the wall to find the nearest alcove. Kerplunk. Her shoulders shook with the effort of hiding her sobs. Footfalls slowly got louder and then stopped not far from her hiding place. She held her breath and pulled her knees to her chest hoping they would continue on their way. "Lumos," came from the direction of the footsteps.
She buried her head in her arms and tried to become as tiny as she could. Please just keep walking, just keep walking. There's nothing to see here… "Rose? Rose Weasley?" She looked up and squinted at the light.
She couldn't make out the figure hiding in the shadows just beyond the wand tip. She put her head down again and tried to ignore them. Once again sobs escaped her. "Rose, it's ok," They sat down beside her and extinguished the light.
"What do you want?" she felt trapped. "Please, just let me be," and again silence. Her tears intensified and she rested her head on her knees. A gentle hand came up and ran its way back and forth across her shoulders.
Slowly, her incoherence from sorrow turned to incoherence due to exhaustion. The hand grabbed a hold of her shoulder and puller her against the body it was attached to.
She was woken up by the hand shaking her gently. "Rose, as much as I want to keep you here, we need to get to the dorms. It's already really late. C'mon,"
Rose brushed her hair back from her face again and rubbed her eyes. "Lumos," Blinking rapidly, she didn't get a chance to see her friend. "Rose, I trust you can get to your rooms. Good night," the footsteps once again started moving, this time away.
"Wait, please…" she pulled out her own wand, lit the tip, and started back to Gryffindor tower. Again, she was alone, but it helped to know someone cared.
