A Seemingly Stupid Creature
Failed.
Dr. Cortex reviewed his wrongs to find that there were no wrongs to be found. "How could that…that… imbecile disrupt my plans again!?" Cortex thought to himself. The fool could never truly stop him, he'd always come back. He'd always have another diabolical plan stuffed up his sleeve ready to reveal itself. But that idiot has just been impeding Cortex's plans for just so long, that he is feeling… stopped.
And that left Cortex feeling like a failure, a stupid failure. But how could he be the stupid one when his opponent is even stupider? These things didn't add up inside his head. So he sought the beginning of it all.
In his retrospect, yes, it was a mistake to create the fool who has been slowing his diabolical plans, but if he had known this was going to happen, he would have stopped the experiment right then and there. But he didn't know! How could he have known!? He's not a mind reader (even though the size of his head might suggest he is).
So that left Cortex looking in the more… detailed part of the creation of this imbecile.
He pondered at many ideas, and came to one that would be the best explanation. He had left particles of his own wonderfully intelligent intellect (DNA) on the machine that made this creature. But of course, it was a small figment and only left a trace of intelligence in the creature's… small brain.
And maybe this creature manipulated this small piece of intelligence the best he could. Therefore, impeded Cortex's plans but never stopped them completely. As stated, the simply stupid creature didn't have that many smarts.
But Cortex excused this idea, stating he was too careful with the procedure to begin with, he would have never done something so stupid. He sighed in defeat.
Exhausted, the evil scientist went to bed, still not comprehending the idiot who slowed him or his genius. That bothered him, but he always had tomorrow to bake up a delicious and truly evil plan that would destroy the idiot and the island for good.
Right after the diabolical scientist crawled into bed, he had a sudden and irking thought before he closed his eyes. He pushed away the idiotic idea that this stupid creature could be a somewhat… seemingly stupid creature, but be smart in its own concealed way, without the scientist's abilities. If that made any sense at all.
After he had pushed that thought away, he imploded it with a laser, like any truly evil scientist would.
