Charlie closed his eyes as he faded away. Although slightly sad, he felt a relaxing wave of accomplishment. Sure, he was dying; but Claire and Aaron were safe. That's all that mattered. While lost in his thought he felt himself slipping away. His body was struggling while his mind was chattering away. This is it. He thought to himself. Suddenly he head a loud sound and felt a currant pull him towards the door. Before he knew it he was lying face first on the floor with water rushing onto him. The station was sinking and as much as he wanted to sink with it; he thought that the unusual faulty door was a sign. He jumped into the water without hesitation, hoping that he could catch up with Desmond. While swimming below the station he got the sudden urge to just let go. To let out his final breath under the water and die. Not that he wanted to die, he was just scared of what would happen if he didn't. He ignored the temping thought and continued swimming. The water seemed to never end until he saw light. With the last lot of energy he had in him Charlie threw his head above the water. Gasping for air, he looked around.

He could see Desmond in the distance going straight towards camp. Charlie tried to call out but was unable to get a descent sound out. As much as he wanted to swim after Desmond he knew he wouldn't make it. Swimming straight to shore was a better option. There he could catch his breath and try to figure out what was going on.
