Chapter One: The Bird And The Worm

A heavy, exasperated sigh escaped me as I laced up my boots. I was getting ready for my next match that was coming up pretty quick after a few commercials and a drink of water or two.

"Well, ready to make an ass outta myself now." I muttered to myself. Yeah, I wasn't exactly all that excited for it.

Don't get me wrong, being a professional wrestler has been my dreams for years; just like all of the others I work with. There's a lot of benefits from this job as well. The pay is good – fantastic, even. The fans are great, the fame, the glitter and the glamour and just the adrenaline-filled rush of just being able to get out in the ring was something I loved experiencing. But when it came to the bad side, the real gritty side of it, jobbing and acting like an idiot out there for some of us wasn't exactly the most fun thing to do.

Some of us, including me.

I, in fact, hate it. But I do what I have to do to get by. I mean, girl's gotta pay the bills somehow. Even if I don't want to constantly lose or act like a bafoon. Though, I don't really have a say in the matter.

As I took a swig off of my water bottle, I headed over to the curtains waiting to debut tonight. I looked at the TV that showed what was going on out in the ring. Maryse was fighting against Eve, her current rival and the one that held on tight to the gold that she won from her. I studied the match and watched as my blond co-worker gracefully dominated her opponent. God, she was the greatest Diva on the entire show. Why couldn't that be me?

Yes, I was jealous. I mean, can you blame me?

She was like this huge, beautiful, powerful bird and I was just this small, pitiful little worm.

I needed to be like her. If only I got the oppritunity.
