Damon walked into the school and sped through the halls to Elena. She was still on the floor looking at Katherine. He stopped beside her and raised a brow. "What happened?"

Elena turned to look up at him. "How did you know I was here? Is this some new side of the sire bond?"

Damon rolled his eyes and held out a hand to her. "You've been watching too much True Blood, I don't have that kind of hold over you just because I'm your maker."

Elena frowned. "Then why are you here?"

Before Elena knew what he was doing, Damon had grabbed her phone from her jacket pocket and held it up. "I tracked your phone when you didn't answer."

Elena looked a little disappointed that it was something so ordinary. "Oh." She said.

Damon looked down at Katherine. "What happened?" Elena followed his gaze. "She tried to kill me, so I gave her back her life."

Swinging his gaze back to Elena he looked surprised. "The cure?" With a nod Elena looked at him. "Yes."

Damon frowned at her, "But now there's no way you can change your mind about being a vampire, you can never be human again."

Elena linked her arm through his and steered them away from the unconscious women on the floor. She shrugged as they walked out of the school together, arm in arm. "You know, that's ok. Somebody once told me that you have to live forever to be with someone forever."

Damon smiled, that one sided sly looking smile, as he remembered the words Lexie's boyfriend had said that night that Elena had saved his life for the first time.

He bumped his shoulder into hers and smirked. "Forever huh?"

Elena smirked right back at him and raised a brow as she shrugged once again. "Well, we'll start with the night, see how it goes from there."

As they strolled through the quiet streets of Mystic Falls, neither one of them knew that the man that was waiting for them at home wasn't really the Stefan that they would think he is. Neither one knew that Bonnie was dead and the Jeremy was once again alive.

All they knew for sure was that for the first time in a long time they were happy, just being together.

Everything else could wait, even if it was just for a minute.
