Introduction
Banging Platters, Shaking glasses, screaming voices, and tequila in the air on Murphy Boulevard. That's what explains Maria's dinner time.
Maria is an average 12 year old. She enjoyed watching television, being on the computer, and drawing in her notebook. But all of this happens after 4 pm and before 2 am. Anywhere in between? Those were her father's drinking times. Every night he would leave the house saying how much he loved his little "Marie". Then, in the quiet beginnings of the morning, he would come in and blame her for everything. When she was young she used to think tequila caused bruises and scrapes, and it was controlling her daddy. She was right about the controlling part.
One night, he father came home, but no hitting. No yelling. Nothing. She saw her father cross the living room floor, then go into his room. Maria didn't think anything of it for a while. She simply let it be and continued playing with her doll. How she loved that doll. Her mother had given it to her right before she disappeared Maria remembers asking her dad why he was getting rid of his new dyed red clothes. He simply told her he didn't mean to dye them red. She never asked again.
A couple hours later he father came out. He looked at her and glared. Maria looked up, and without even taking a breathe, was knocked out by her father with a bat. Maria landed on the ground, barely breathing with only one eye open, hiding it with her hand. She saw her father grab a pistol from his back pocket. Without a blink, without any emotion on his face, no tears, or smiles, he placed it to his head. There was a bang heard on Murphy Boulevard.
