Theology is riddled with stories depicting the love God and the Host had for humanity. However the stories you don't see are the ones where humanity returns that love.

Most vampires think they know the real story of Cain, the father of all kindred, the first murderer. They don't even know half of it. Cain was amongst the humans that stayed with the Rebel Host to face gods wrath. He watched as the angels fought each other day after day, no side ever gaining ground or sway over the other. One day he happened to catch the battle between two Angels of the Second World, Reetsev-rah of Worros and Gavriel of the Host. When he saw Gavriel he fell instantly in love with her, he believed her beauty unmatched by any of the host. He watched entranced with her until the battle was over and he could no longer see her. Shaken from his thoughts by her sudden disappearance he vowed to find her.

When he did find her again, he immediately told her of his feelings. Gavriel told him that they couldn't be together, that she shouldn't even have been seen by him. Cain agreed he would leave, if she could look him in the eye and tell him she did not love him. Unable to lie to him she simply shook her head sadly and vanished into the coming mist.

Reetsev-rah sensed Cain's unhappiness and appeared before him to see what was wrong. Once Cain explained the situation Reetsev gave him the only advice he could think of. Maybe if Cain could offer God a worthy enough sacrifice God would be willing to allow them to be together. Inspired by his idea Cain set off towards the offering place to make his sacrifice. When he arrived he found his bother already there.

Unable to think of a better sacrifice than Able he picked up a large rock and killed his brother. Everything in the world seemed to stand still in that moment, then Gods horrible wrath descended like a tidal wave. He cursed Cain to an immortal half life doomed to forever repeat his mistakes. He also exiled him from the land and insured the he would never again see Gavriel.

Furious at Reetsev's interference Gavriel appeared before him, demanding to know why he would inspire such a despicable act. Reetsev had no answer for her, just replied that he wished to help the human get what he deserved. Lost in her own anger Gavriel bound Reetsev's soul to the earth. Once he was bound she left him to his fate. No matter how he tried he couldn't free himself from Gavriel's prison. He called for help but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Neither side of the Host and Mortals would help him believing he deserved his fate for his actions.

Gavriel soon joined the Rebel Host believing it to be the only way she could help Cain. For a thousand more years the war raged as she kept a distant but watchful eye on the human that loved her enough to endure Gods wrath. Both sides suffered great casualties, with no end in sight God brought down her final and most terrible judgment. All the rebel host were cast into the abyss, forever near to the world they had created and suffered, for yet forever trapped just out of reach.

Only the most powerful of the Fallen escaped the abyss becoming bond to the earth they loved. Reetsev still bound in the prison Gavriel had cursed him too remained safe from the abyss. He waited to be freed so that he might exact his revenge of the world that had forsaken him.
