Who are you really?

You say you're the scientific advisor for UNIT.

I can see it's a title you hide behind.

You say you're impressed with me.

My happiness is short lived.

You say that you won't turn me in.

I can see in your eyes that you really are impressed.

That I would risk capture and imprisonment.

All to find out a story.

You say you can really travel in time and space.

My first reaction is "oh, you poor man".

But how else could I explain what has happened to me?

You say that you're trying to get home.

When I ask where, you point upwards.

You say you help UNIT stop alien invasions.

I can't help think you've said this all before.

You say you had to face your fear.

Because what you do, what you have to face every day, you can't afford to fear.

But you're so different now.

You have none of your charm left.

You hide being your smile.

And I see our friendship slowly start to fade.

You say that I can stay with you.

You never ask me if I want to.

Because I don't understand what has happened.

You say that you haven't really changed.

But the man that I travel with now isn't the man I knew.

You aren't My Doctor.

You say you're pleased to meet me.

And I think nothing of it.

I always hoped that when I met you again I would recognise you.

That I would see the man who was once my friend underneath yet another new body.

But you had regenerated too many times; you had changed too much.

There was no spark of the man I knew left.

He had been buried.

For what reason I don't know.

But I had to think it was for your own safety.

And that you hadn't chosen any of this.
