You couldn't imagine the thrill and the sheer relief I felt once I got the Sun Mask back. After being transformed into a child by that imp, and having my mask stolen by that grinning thief, I'd lost all hope of ever getting it back, and keeping my promise to her. But once I got it in my hands, it was as if a giant weight had been lifted off of me and I felt like I was granted one last chance to keep my promise. I took of at once back to town on foot. Most people would have called me a fool, but I didn't care. I would have ran the distance twice if it meant keeping my promise.

The now giant moon loomed over me as I raced onward, heralding the incoming doom of the world. Breathlessly, I ran on and on until I finally reached town. The tremors made from the approaching moon were getting worse, and I knew I had very little time left. I quickly made my way to the inn where she worked, trying to keep my balance as the tremors grew in power and frequency. When I finally staggered into her room, it was empty. I stood in the doorway gasping for breath, in shock and despair. I slumped back against the wall, defeated and scolding myself. How could I have broken the promise we made? She probably hates me now...

After standing there for a few minutes, my eyes wandered over to the white dress illuminated by the light shining through the window it sat in front of. The Moon Mask rested where her head would've been; and the bouquet was laid out on her bed. How long, I wondered, had she been waiting here? How long before she lost hope, and ran to find refuge from the destructive bent moon outside? Delicately, I ran my fingers down the hem of the dress, remembering the promise we made to be married on the festival. The door clicked again, and I knew it was the boy in green who had helped me recover the mask. He silently walked towards me and stood to my left.

"Isn't her bridal dress lovely?"I said softly."We promised each other when we were children that we'd marry on the day of the Carnival of Time."He didn't reply."...But my promise...I couldn't keep it."I looked over to him."You should seek shelter...I'll stay here."I said, turning to the dress again. He slowly nodded with a look of sadness as he walked out of the door. I sighed and sat down on the bed, picking up the bouquet and looking at it. The tremors were now constant and I knew then that the end of the world had come."Anju...I'm sorry I couldn't fulfill my promise to you."I said softly, as a lone tear rolled down my cheek."I wonder...Are you thinking of me during this last moment?"A bright flash of light shone outside, and a deafening noise could be heard. I closed my eyes, and met the catastrophe without fear...only remorse.
