The roses on his doorstep should have been an indication of what was about to happen. The lit candles that formed a pathway leading to their garden and the soft music playing in the background, it should have been an indication. The pounding in his ears, his heart hammering against in his chest when he saw Sebastian Smythe standing on a platform, looking at him like he was the only person in the world, made his knees go weak but thankfully he was able to hold on to the threshold. He managed to open his mouth but no sound came out. The music started playing and he knew the familiar tune. It made his heart go faster. He tried to open his mouth again, hoping that he would be able to say something… "Sebastian?" He managed to rasp.
Sebastian smiled and he removed the microphone from the stand and started to walk towards him. "Forever could never be long enough for me but I feel like I've had long enough with you." He started to sing and Kurt felt his tears fall from his eyes. His heart was constricting in a way that made him want to scream out of joy. Sebastian wiped away his tears, his trademark smirk playing on his lips. "Forget the world now, we won't let them see. But there's one thing left to do."
Sebastian took a step back and held his hand. "Now that the weight has lifted, love has surely shifted my way." He pulled him out to the garden and placed Kurt's arms around his neck. He wrapped his free arm around Kurt's waist. He pressed their bodies together and his lips were on his ear. "Marry me, today and every day. Marry me, if I never get the nerve to say hello in this café, say you will."
Kurt tightened his hold and pulled him, if it was possible, closer to him. "Say you will." He repeated the last line. "Together, can never be close enough for me to feel like I am close enough to you." Kurt continued and he could almost hear Sebastian smirk. "You wear white and I'll wear out the words I love you."
"And you're beautiful." Sebastian took the line, chuckling. He pulled away and kissed his forehead. "Now that the wait is over and love has finally showed you my way."
He removed Kurt's hands from his neck and placed the microphone back on the stand before pulling Kurt towards the fountain. Kurt was speechless and he couldn't bring himself to jest or say something that Kurt would normally say. They arrived at the fountain and Kurt was swept of his feet for the second time that night. Near the fountain was a blanket carefully laid, a bottle of chardonnay (or most likely Kurt's favourite) peeking out of the basket, pasta, cake and a black box sitting next to it. Kurt looked at Sebastian, who was smiling at him.
Sebastian pulled him closer to the fountain. "Marry me, today and every day. Marry me, if I ever get the nerve to say hello in this café, say you will." He picked up the box and let Kurt sit on the ledge of the fountain. "Promise me you'll always be, happy by my side. I promise to sing to you… when all the music dies…"
"Marry me, today and every day. Marry me, if I ever get the nerve to say hello in this café… say you will. Say you will… marry me." Sebastian knelt in front of Kurt and opened the box. "We got together for the most unconventional of reasons but I'm glad that you're the one by my side, Kurt. I love you and I hope to spend the rest of my life with you. Kurt Elizabeth Hummel, will you marry me?"
