Ezio watched the city of Rome from the second story window of an abandoned home. The previous occupants were likely driven from their residence due to poverty induced by taxes or otherwise killed. Too much hatred ruled the streets of this large city, all of it being the source of the Borgia family. With Rodrigo controlling the church and Cesare controlling the military, no one in Italy was safe from their reign. Not even Ezio's own family.

Ezio's father was an Assassin. Therefore he didn't know that the Auditore family had always had a target upon their backs. Losing his father and brothers was the reason he fought so hard to renew Italy to a state of peace. Yes, it was his reason, but now that he has matured he no longer fights for himself, but for all of the people.

He climbed out of the window with murderous silence and slipped into the crowd behind the guards. The people around him were too busy talking to notice the newest addition to their group. Slowly working his way closer he could overhear the guards talking. Apparently they were headed to a home nearby. The youngest son there had assaulted and teased one of the guards in the group and somehow managed to escape back to his family. However that sanctuary would only last so long.

Ezio listened intently, silently judging them for their crimes against the people. He wondered if he would ever see the day that Italy would have a right and just leader. Quickly throwing the thought from his mind he overheard one of the guards laugh and say that after they dispose of the child, they should take advantage of the mother. That decided their fate. They weren't just pawns in the Borgia's war against everything that is good. These guards have lost themselves to corruption.

Ezio swiftly unsheathed his knife and dug it's blade between the spinal bones in the closest guard's neck. The crowd quickly dispersed as he raised his hidden gun and shot the next guard in the forehead. Two down, two to go, he thought. He kicked the third guard in the privates and threw his knife at the throat of the last guard and missed. The third guard came back with his mace and tried to strike Ezio across his chest. Ezio countered the attack by dodging it, breaking the guard's arm, and spinning to land his knife perfectly into the guard's back. While keeping momentum he slammed his hidden blade into the face of the last guard while muttering, "requiescat in pace".
