On Legendary
by Remi Craeg
And I am stronger than last year. Six-twelve when I awake, soft whispers, but my eyes are closed. Your touch is soft, the sheets are soft, and the sun is rising. Tell me again that we can sleep in; tell me again that nothing could be better than this moment, except maybe strawberry-covered waffles (but even then I'm not sure). I am stronger, and I am happier than last year—and the year before that. Tomorrow we will again argue about a case, but I will remember this moment. I will remember how the sun hangs halfway over the horizon watching us still sleepy-eyed. And of course, how your skin is warm and flush, your lips decadent; but I will especially remember your toes playing war with my own.
And we never surrender.
Scully, I will miss you next year when I am gone.
A/N: This was originally posted under my general fiction pen name, A. Wakely Scott on fictionpress. I think it fits better in the XF world than by itself, so I thought I'd give it a chance on FanFiction dot net. Thanks for stopping by, litter on your way out.
