Change in a Hole

It was dark and dank in the hole. It couldn't even tentatively be called a cave; it was too small.
Shoulder crammed against the unforgiving rock, Dean panted harshly as he gently tugged his shirtsleeve from his broken arm, preparing to set it.
Across the small space, Sam's face was gaunt in the dying light of their only flashlight. He rifled through their meager first aid kit, which had miraculously survived the fall, for anything to help his brother.
They didn't speak.
A faint beep rang out.
Sam's watch glowed, signalling the change in time.
