Chapter 1.

In Which Piglet Fell Down a Hole

"Oh, d-d-d-dear! Help me, Help!" Piglet pleaded, "I'm stuck in a very scary hole! Pooh Bear, somebody help! Christopher Robin; I need help!" Seeing his pleads go to waste and that there was nothing he could do, he settled down. "Oh, whatever should I d-d-d-do?" With nothing he could do he ran over the events of the day.

Winds-day. The only day Piglet couldn't be outside or he would get blown away. He didn't know it was a Winds-day as Pooh Bear always came around to wish everyone a "happy" Winds-day. When Piglet left his house he almost instantly got swept up by the wind. He was whisked away and flown over the hundred-Acre-Woods. Piglet was dropped as the wind abruptly disappeared. He didn't really get discarded by the wind into the hole, but as Piglet stood up the ground beneath his feet gave way and he fell into the wretched hole.

The dirt in the hole was rather warm. Strange considering the season it was here in the Hundred-Acre Woods. That was when he recalled that one day Christopher robin had told them that, "The deeper you are within the Earth the hotter it gets. Even rocks will melt if they're that near to the center of the Earth!"

"Oh n-n-n-no! I'm going to melt! Help! Help! Oh, nooo!"Piglet resumed his beseeching. Hopelessly discouraged in trying to escape he sat and cried.

Pooh Bear was happily strolling along a trail he always used to gather a week's worth of honey when he heard the muffled cry of Piglet. Startled, he approached the bawling creature. "Why, Piglet what are you doing here. You didn't seem to be at your house when I came to wish you a happy Winds-day. No matter; I'll just tell you now. Happy Winds-day Piglet!" He waved happily and set off.

"Wait! Pooh!" Piglet yelled anxiously.

"Yes Piglet" Pooh answered in his absentminded voice.

"Do you think that maybe you can get me out?"

"Why, yes. Now let's see. How could I get you from there here without me falling too?" Pooh wondered thoughtfully. He carefully began walking around the hole. Without further ado Pooh reached downward, tumbled down the hole, and landed with a thump on top of Piglet. "Now, where did Piglet go?" wondered Pooh. Hearing the almost mute shouts of his friend he stood.

"Pooh! Now what are we going to do?" Piglet complained desperately.

"Simple. I came down here so I could get you and then get back up." said Pooh smiling as if his plan would actually work.

With his only chance of escape down with him in the hole too, Piglet covered his eyes with his ears and sulked.
