Oof it's been so long since I've written. It's 2am and I just want to write. And I just got an email saying there was a response in a forum thread I'm in (Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges Song Title Challenges). So why not.
Song assigned to me: I Don't Care If You're Contagious - Pierce The Veil
Warnings: muggle!au, modern!au
Remus sighed as he walked into his shared flat, making his way to the kitchen island to put down his shopping. With a small clank he put the now empty pickle jar in the middle, his paper bags on one end of the counter, plastic ones on the floor. He made his way to the smart fridge and turned on the house Spotify, scrolling to his playlist.
He hummed to himself as his music started and set to putting the shopping away. He had plenty of time, his boyfriend and best friend wouldn't be home until later and he'd finished his latest deadline. Despite having a sore throat he sang along, not caring that his voice rasped and cracked.
Just because he was sick didn't mean he would give up one of his favourite times out of the week; putting away groceries he'd bought to ensure the household was eating healthy. He finished putting up the items and turned to the jar on the counter. Shopping funds, the three of them pitched in to cover groceries.
Remus was proud of himself for coming up with the idea. After watching Sirius and James gorge on pickles and cookies for three days Remus had had enough, pitching the rule. It had taken a bit of arguing before he'd won, cutting a deal that he would buy some suggested snacks. The whiteboard on the fridge was marked in half, one side saying James and the other Sirius. Remus wiped it down, erasing the last suggestions.
He then turned his music off and made some lemon ginger tea, going to sit on the couch to enjoy it and respond to the comments on his latest blog post. He wrote short stories, mostly about werewolves and wizards. That's how he earned his share of money.
An hour or so later he started to the flat door opening. He looked back to see Sirius walking in, long curly hair tied back in a bun. Remus smiled.
"Moony!" Sirius beamed, walking over to hug him.
Remus blushed and averted a kiss, causing Sirius to pout. "Sorry love," he said awkwardly.
Sirius climbed over the back of the couch, slumping down into it, pulling a throw pillow into his lap.
"You haven't kissed me for three days, do I smell?" Sirius mumbled. "You haven't slept in our bed either…"
Remus looked away from him.
Sirius gasped, dragging his attention back. "You aren't sleeping with James are you? You aren't having an affair?"
"Sirius we aren't married, that's hardly an affair." Remus cleared his throat upon seeing Sirius' sad look and winced at the pain. "I'm not cheating on you. I've just got a cold or something, I don't want to get you sick."
Sirius relaxed at that and chuckled. "Well,"he nudged Remus with his shoulder. "I don't care if I get sick, so kiss me."
"But-"
"Rem, I don't care if you're contagious, I don't mind. Just kiss me."
Remus hesitated before smiling, nodding slightly and leaning in to kiss him.
A few days later Sirius was sitting on the couch bundled in blankets, sipping lemon ginger tea. Remus sat by him looking guilty. "Sorry."
"Don't be, I don't care if you get me sick," Sirius grinned. "Kiss?"
Remus laughed. "I may have gotten over it but I'm not chancing getting it again. I'm sorry love."
Wow this is really shitty. Took me an hour to write and it feels off. Normally I wouldn't post anything if I didn't like it but I gotta get something out there.
