AN: Ok this is my first Pokemon fanfic so be nice on the personalities. I only know what I do from the games since I haven't watched the show in forever and I'm too poor to buy all the Manga. Well I hope you enjoy this little story.
Disclaimer: I sadly do not own any rights to the Pokemon franchise -pout- They belong to Satoshi, Shogokukan, and Nintendo.
Seriously why did he even bother anymore? Again he'd been persuaded by a certain red headed idiot to venture out to the spring path. And again they'd gotten lost. How had his buffoon friend become a member of the elite? Then again what'd that say about him being his friend?
"Hey Volk, stop being all emo and cheer up! Nature's beautiful!" Flint galloped to his side on his Rapidash. "Doesn't it feel nice to be out of your stuffy gym and under the stars?"
Another stupid move. It was night. The only light they had was the stars and Flint's Pokemon. He looked over, no up at his friend and shook his head. "Why'd I even agree to this? Don't answer that," Volkner sprawled himself out in the grass and flowers. "It's itchy,"
"Well mister attitude that's called bugs," Flint's smile got closer as he jumped off the fire stallion and lay down beside him, recalling his Pokemon. Hands behind his head and eyes looking upwards had Flint appearing as comfortable as if he was in his bed or on Volkner's couch.
Honestly Volkner was enjoying himself a lot more then he would at his gym or the light house. Though he'd never tell Flint that. If he did all this might stop. Flint might believe him cured. He turned his head on its side to look at his long time friend. He was the only one who could cheer him up these days. Even that battle with that tough kid from the boonies or where ever she'd been from had only held an ounce of excitement.
"Hey? Hey Volk?"
"Hmm?"
"Oh good your alive! You looked peaceful for once. Thought you finally died of boredom."
"Very funny"
"I thought so,"
Volkner turned away and looked up, and saw two bright lights. Yellow and red. Fire and electricity. "Hey look up," His voice held a small spark of excitement. Eyes just a little wider.
Flint's gaze followed his and his grin spread to his hair line. A Moltres and Zapdos were flying around each other, serenely. No Fire spin or thunder bolt, just the wind under their wings. This was a site! Too bad Roark or Aaron weren't here to see this! "Wonder which one's the girl?"
"Maybe there's not one," Volkner rolled onto his side," Maybe they're both male,"
"Volkner?"
This was it now or never. He crawled the rest of the way until he was right above Flint, and gazed into his confused eyes. Eyes that were slowly getting the idea. His lips parted just a little as his own eyes gazed lower at Flint's lips.
"Volk…," Flint looked up at Volker and saw the pure life in his eyes and grinned. "Finally!"
The outburst almost scared Volkner enough to fall over, and he probably would have if not for Flint's arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him down to his lips. The kiss was chaste but it was enough to satisfy either one for the moment.
Flint had finally succeeded in bringing life back to Volkner's eyes. It'd been years since he'd seen that expression that'd he'd fallen in love with. And Volkner knew he was accepted, that he was loved. Through out his depression only one person had ever fully stood by him, and that was Flint. Now looking up at the stars with his arm around his best friend, Volkner knew one thing for sure. They didn't seem so lost anymore.
