Hermione had a problem with biting nails. She constantly did it she couldn't help it. She'd been trying to stop but couldn't. Then Ginny had caught her in their room chewing her nails. Immediately she gave Hermione "Ginny's Tips". First Ginny recommended lollipops

"Oh, I love lollipops! My parents almost never let me have them." So she sucked on them everywhere. She was in the library reading Hogwarts: A History, currently lavishing attention on a cherry pop. She felt someone's eye's on her, peeking over her book she noticed Draco staring openly. His book was abandoned on the table like he had dropped it in a rush. Shocked, she continued to read her book, not wanting to abandon her favorite book. After another fifteen minutes of this she finally snapped, she couldn't take it anymore. She took out some parchment and wrote

~Malfoy hasn't your mother ever told you it's not polite to stare?~

She levitated it to rest right in front of him. He read it and blushed faintly. She was shocked, he had actually blushed. He grabbed his book and swept out dramatically without a word. She eventually got sick of the sticky and overly sweet lollipops. They made her tongue numb. Ginny gave her the idea of popsicles and the whole time Malfoy never bothered them. Hermione, Ron, and Harry hardly saw him outside of class. The popsicles turned out to be a problem when they dripped everywhere. She got in big trouble with Snape and crotchety old Filch. So she tried nail polish which didn't help at all because wouldn't you know? Nail polish tastes as bad as it smells, if not worse. Ginny was grasping at straws when she suggested lip gloss.

"How would that help?"

"Well, when you try to bite your nails you'll get lip gloss on your fingers."

She reluctantly agreed and a week went by. The whole time she didn't bite her nails once. She was walking into the Great Hall for breakfast, she stopped to apply more gloss right after walking through the entrance. She had just put the cap back on when somebody's lips crashed on to hers. She dropped the tube, she didn't know who it was though she had a niggling suspicion, he hadn't been very subtle despite the stereotype of being sneaky. Hermione allowed herself to lose all sense while putting her all into the kiss. Her hands went to his hair, soft and silky. His tongue explored every crevice of her mouth. She moaned as she felt fire spread over her body, maybe this was the desire she'd read so much about. Faintly she heard utensils dropping, whistling, and shouts of

"Get a room!"

The man pulled away slowly, she opened her eyes. There stood

"Draco!"

She'd been kissing the boy she'd secretly liked all year, turns out her hunch was correct. He smiled an actual and genuine smile, which prompted her to look around. Everyone was staring shocked at the scene before them. Ginny was bursting with excitement and Ron looked like he was boiling alive, his face clearly showing it. While Dumbledore just smiled and twinkled his eyes. Draco led her into the hallway for some privacy.

"Why did you kiss me?" she stammered.

He smirked

"The lollipops drove me nuts so I stayed away as best I could. I wanted to lick the popsicle off of your neck but I don't think you would take kindly to me doing that out of the blue. Although when it came to the lip gloss I had to practically hurt myself to keep my self away. Then this morning, with you once again putting on that stupid lip gloss, I guess I just lost control and here we are."

"Here we are," she repeated this faintly in disbelief but still smiled brightly, "So you like me?"

He shuffled his feet and nodded shyly staring at the floor.

"I like you too," he looked up with a large toothy grin, clearly pleased. He kissed her again softly and she smiled against his lips. Now she just had to deal with everyone else...
