Title: Accidents and Arrogance
Characters: Gideon/Mary
Author's Note: Each drabble in this collection will be exactly one hundred words long and written for either the Het Pairings Boot Camp or the Favorite Era Boot Camp. Oh, and I'll take requests. ;)

When Gideon fights, the world is silent. Everything is seen, nothing is heard. Hearing's unimportant, distracting. He fights with sharp motions and a quick mind, focused on his opponent with single-minded tenacity, making no mistakes. He's not worried about his teammates. They're strong enough. Not as strong as him, but strong enough.

Then Mary screams. The sound pierces through Gideon's self-imposed silence and he falters, wand slipping just before a deadly blow. His opponent is unconscious, not dead, all because he stopped to watch a witch fall.

Gideon doesn't make mistakes, but the crimson blood painting the ground says otherwise.
