A/N: Hey everyone! I know I probably should be working on OUaT, but I'm in EXTREME writer's block with how to go on. This one-shot was inspired by a commercial for , played during the Superbowl, of a beaver playing the fiddle (link on my profile). Hope you all like it!
Disclaimer: Narnia is not mine sadly. But that doesn't mean I can't have some fun with it!
Mr. Beaver and His Fiddle
"Now Beaver, put that thing down. If the Witch's Wolves hear ya, they'll take ya to her, and ya won't come back."
"But Ma, I like playing my fiddle!" the young Beaver protested.
"No buts. Put that away before I use it for kindling," Ma said sternly.
"Yes Ma." Beaver got up reluctantly to put his fiddle away. Beaver received the instrument as a gift from Pa before he mysteriously disappeared, and he cherished it dearly. He played it whenever he could, and had gotten quite good at it too. The lad was able to play many of the songs he and his mother would sing about when times were easier, about Aslan, and even some folk songs. Beaver was quite proud of himself for being able to the fiddle without being taught how.
About the time he'd been able to get through all the songs he knew without making any mistakes, the White Witch decided that there should be no music or musical instruments, and she increased patrols everywhere to make sure nothing was being sung or played – that was why Ma made Beaver put it away, so he wouldn't get in trouble.
As he grew up, Beaver still played his fiddle when he was sure that there was no one around. One day Beaver caught the attention of his future wife with his fiddle playing. The two were married, and Mr. Beaver built a dam on a frozen pond – the dam that would house the Four Kings and Queens near the end of the Witch's Winter.

During the second year of the Four's reign, Kings Peter and Edmund, and Queens Susan and Lucy were going to the Beavers' for their annual visit. When they arrived, they heard the sound of a fiddle being played from inside the dam. Intrigued, the Kings and Queens knocked on the door. Mrs. Beaver opened the door and welcomed them in. To their surprise, it was Mr. Beaver that was playing, and he was so into playing that he didn't stop when they entered. Getting into it, the young royalty began to dance a little to the music – they would've gone all out and had fun if they weren't in the cramped Beaver home. When he finished, Mr. beaver took notice of his monarchs and quickly bowed to them.
"How long have you been playing Mr. Beaver?" asked Queen Lucy.
"Since I was a youngin, Your Majesty."
"You're awfully good, Mr. Beaver," the Gentle Queen commented.
"Thank you, my Queen."
Kings Peter and Edmund quickly exchanged a glance, and agreed on the thoughts that were swirling in their heads.
"You know Mr. Beaver," King Peter started, "our dance teacher has been looking for someone to play music for her while we practice what she's taught us –"
" – And we think you'd be perfect for the job," King Edmund finished.
The fiddler looked down at the ground thinking. After a bit, he looked up his wife who looked excited. With a nod of approval from her, he said, "I accept, Your Majesties."
And from then on, the Beavers lived at Cair Paravel with Mr. Beaver playing in the dance class and occasionally at parties in the castle, and with Mrs. Beaver being teacher to the young ones of the Narnians that lived there. Every year or so though, the Beavers would take a vacation and go back to the old dam to have some time to themselves.
And that is the story of Mr. Beaver and his fiddle.
