I woke up, hearing Fang scream in his sleep, it was that dream again, it had to be. Stupid nightmares I thought as I hurried down the hall.
Fang's one of the bravest people I know, but he's also human, at least, 98% human. And he, like everyone else, gets scared. The nightmares nearly kill him, and in turn kill me.
I walked into the room and shook his shoulder gently, trying to draw him out of never ever land and back to reality. "Fang, Fang, come on, you have to wake up," I murmured.
"Make it stop, Max, please, please Max," he whimpered in his sleep.
I shook his shoulders a little harder, I hated seeing him like this, even if he was asleep, "Fang, you have to wake up, please," I practically begged, ready to slap him if he didn't.
Fang started screaming again, his voice cracked from yelling so loudly, and before I knew it the room was filled with the rest of the flock. They stared at me; I know they must have been as worried about Fang as I was. "Now's not the time, go back to bed," I said, pushing them out and closing the door behind them.
Fang was shaking as he lay in the bed, shivering all over, "M-Max, you can't leave, no, no, no, Max, please, don't let them do it, don't let them kill me," he mumbled, sounding close to tears, still asleep.
Fang sat bolt upright in bed, he was white as a sheet, and had a horrified look in his usually bottomless eyes. I put a hand on his shoulder and he flinched, "it's alright, Fang, it's only me," I whispered.
Fang was hyperventilating, chest heaving, "You okay?" I whispered, pushing him back so he had to lie down. He shook his head slightly.
I wanted to calm him down, but I knew that was next to impossible. I pressed a hand to his chest, right above his heart; I could feel it racing. Fang whimpered a little and I realized he was fighting back tears and losing the battle.
"Come on," I whispered gently pulling him into a hug. I rocked him back and forth, holding him as he, well, he didn't cry, but he was shaking and I knew he was pretty dang close. "Shh, you're alright Fang, I've got you," I murmured, rubbing his back, feeling the warmth of his feathers through his shirt.
"Max, I'm sc-scared," he whimpered, the last word coupling it's self with a sob. I hugged him a little tighter.
"I know, take a deep breath," I whispered.
Fang took a deep, trembling breath and, I asked him, "What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it," he said quietly, wiping un-fallen tears from his eyes.
I squeezed his hand, "Please, it'll help."
"We were back at the school and Jeb took us all to separate rooms and left us there for, like three days. Then he got the two of us and t-tortured us for information that neither of us would ever give up. You were okay; but you still almost let him kill me. W-would you d-do that?" he asked, voice shaky.
"No, Fang, never in a million years would I let someone execute you, never," I whispered, hugging him again, "now, lay down, it's going to be a big day," I said.
After a moment of contemplation I crawled under the covers with him, "Fang, I love you," I whispered.
"Love you too Maximum," he whispered, finding my hand under the covers.
A/N well that was just fluffy wasn't it! i love fluff... like i said it'll get better later :) R&R
