"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
The girl looked up, jade eyes wide with wonder. "Yes," she breathed, then turned back to the scenery before her.
The brunette boy beside her smiled before reaching out, messing up her hair. "I thought you would, Sakura." From above, the moon winked down at them, washing the city before them in pearly luminescence.
Sakura's grip on the balcony railing loosened slightly. "When did you first find this place?"
The boy shrugged a shoulder carelessly, leaning forward to prop his elbow on the top bar. "A couple years ago, I guess. I think it was during our freshman year." He lifted his hand to sweep his bangs from his eyes.
A small smile played upon Sakura's lips, and she made no move to reply. The city before them was yawning, the very cars that drove past underneath them sluggish.
Sakura narrowed her eyes, squinting in the distance. "Is that the ice cream place a couple blocks from school?" she asked, pointing ahead with her free hand while the other gripped the railing.
"It looks like it." He jumped fluidly from the railing onto the ground, then proffered a hand. "Want to go?"
Nodding eagerly, Sakura followed the boy's example, sweeping her legs from the bar to land on the concrete. They began walking along the edge of the street, bathed in the occasional passing headlight of a drowsy car.
"Syaoran?"
The chestnut-haired boy looked up.
She gazed at him for a while, her eyes searching his for understanding.
"I just… thank you," she murmured.
He nodded, his gaze slipping from her face down to their hands, which had, at some point, laced together.
AN: Very short, I know. I wanted to write a CC fic, and the manga/anime is so cutesy, it's impossible to write anything but fluff. (No one contradict me here, please. Because you probably could, but I don't have the patience to scheme some elaborate plot.)
So, please, tell me what you think (or didn't think).
;) Thanks.
