It's been twenty years since the outbreak . No body knew what it was it where it came from but it was aggressive . Cities were over run in hours . Millions of people either dead , dying , or eating others within minutes . Or so that's how the stories go . We're twenty years into the future now . I don't know what the city used to be like . And I never will . You can't trust anybody anymore . It doesn't matter if its your friends or your family . All there are... Is last of us ...

I moved alone in silence . The only noise the sound of the birds chirping, an occasional clicker ever now and then , mabey even the wind echoing through the hollow buildings that stood around me . I haven't eaten in three days although I was as strong as I could ever be . My water was running low and there was no water in my line of sight . Searching would be to risky . Even in the light of day . I always had to move . I always told myself never to trust others . They could turn out to be the real monsters in the end. But something in my head told me I needed somebody . Somebody to help me . Somebody to look after me . Somebody to protect me once in a while . Somebody ... To .. Love me . My eyes watered up reminding me if my family . My mom . My brother . My little sister . I wondered If they were even alive . I couldn't bare to think of the topic it would make me quit . It'd make me quit trying to stay alive .

Day light was fading . I needed someplace to sleep for the night . I couldn't risk sleeping on the ground incase of theifs or clickers . Hell it didn't matter if you were on the ground or locked in a room . Clickers would eventually tear you limb from limb . The only shelter I found in my line of sight was a leaning sky scraper . I didn't have any other choice the sky's were getting dark . There was a storm coming in . As the rain started to fall on the

pale , cracked, vine littered ground I moved into the building . I found a cracked window to crawl through into the main lobby . Decay took most if the support beams and some lay on the floor. Ever step I took posed the risk of the whole place collapsing on top of me . I started to climb the slanted stairs up to the sixth floor . By now the sky was dark the moon shining through the gaps in the clouds as the rain and lighting rushed for the ground . I reached my destination just in time to here the sound of gun fire . I froze in my tracks waiting to here more . ... Nothing . As I made my way though the floor I came up to the far side of the building only to discover a wall . There were bright lights rushing every where as if they were trying to find someone deep within the caved in streets that gave into the sewers . Trucks rushed over the bridges that crossed the caved streets . Shouting rang through the cold air . My thoughts trailed off to the wall again . Camps . These were safe zones . Enforced with twelve foot thick concrete walls and the strongest military power in the area . There weren't many around now a days thanks to the rebels . Or the Fireflies . That's what they call themselves . I over heard my cousin talking about them years ago . About how ruthless they were . But in a good way . He spoke about the good they were doing for the people of this ruined nation . I haven't seen any real FireFly . I want to . But the thought of what might happen if they spotted me came into my head every time . Another noise caught my attention . Muffled foot steps. And the distinct sound of voices . A deep manly voice . A woman's voice . And ... A girls voice . They where heading up the stairs . I slid under a desk and held my breath as the mysterious figures emerged from the stair well .
