My lungs filled with air and my eyes shot open. I sit up quickly and a searing pain comes to my head. My paws shoot to my head and clutch it. It's wet? Water? Blood? I bring my paw down and look to see what caused it. There's nothing there, it must be water. I sniff it. No scent, definitely water. I shake my head and look around. A dense forest, dark oak I believe, in front of me and what seems like an endless ocean behind me. I slowly stand up, alert to everything. Nothing seems to be moving, I must be safe for now. I check myself over for any injuries or changes. Clothes in tact, tail okay, ears okay, Nothing different. I sigh relieved and turn to look out to sea. The water is a nice shade of blue, doesn't look like there's anything else out there though. I turn back to the forest. Guess I'll walk this way then. I put my paws into my jacket pockets and start walking into the forest. The trees have a nice color, maybe I can find a sapling to take with me. I push that thought to the back of my mind and try to stay focused. I can find a sapling later, right now I should find shelter. A gentle breeze blows through the forest and a small smile forms on my face. My ears twitch slightly as I continue my trek. It feels like I've been walking in this forest forever. I'm gonna climb a tree and see if there's an end. Walking up to the nearest tree I climb up it. I can see the end but it's still a ways off. The sun is starting to set, I better hurry. I swiftly hop down from the tree and start walking once more. A few minutes pass, the sun is lower, the end of the forest is in sight. I've found myself humming a familiar tune. Finally, the end of the forest. Its a big plain, full of talk grass and the occasional wild flower. Night is here. I step back into the forest and climb the nearest tree, selling in for a good sleep. I look out on the plain before me from my branch before my eyes close and I drift to sleep. I dream about things stirring in the night.
