The Community Arts Center is a great place for new experiences. Sadly the art class had to be cancelled because Professor Feliciano Vargas was fired. But that's not what you had come for. You had long desired to play a part in the musical the theatre class was showing, Annie.
You walked in and you were about to ask if they still had auditions going when Professor Roderich intervened. "You are here for the piano piece in the show, right?"
"Uh…uh…" You stiffened up; the Austrian teacher looked down at you intimidating like. Yet there was something about his piercing eyes that made you feel like he needed you. "Er…yes, yes! That's exactly what I was going to ask." You said with a meek smile. He smiled lightly, but it swiftly turned back to a stern gaze, "Well come along then, we don't have time to waste you know." He said. You obeyed his orders and followed him. You followed him into his room, and he taught you the notes of the songs that you would have to play during the musical.
After three days of this teaching, of put downs and nagging you finally came to the end of your rope.
"No, no, NO!" He snapped and pushed your hands off the keys and showed you how to do it. Suddenly tears welled up in your eyes. You tried to not let them out, as you clenched your fists. "Now try it again!"
You tried but he smacked your hands, "No! You've got it all wrong!"
"Argh! I can't handle this anymore! You're a stuck up jerk! I didn't even want this part! I don't even like the piano! I only agreed because I thought you needed my help!" You snapped.
"Fine then! I don't need you anyways! I can find someone to do it much better!" He bit back.
"Fine!" You yelled and marched towards the door. He grabbed your wrist and pulled you back, and crossed his arms over your neck. His head on you shoulder, "I-I'm sorry…please…don't leave. I really do need you…If you don't help me, I'll get fired, as long as I have at least one student, I can still stay." He pleaded, sobbing into your shoulder.
"That was it, wasn't it…the look I saw when you asked me to join you. You were begging me to take the class, so you could stay on."
He nodded, he pulled away and sat on the stool, "I feel horrible. You have your own dreams to pursue and I just took that away from you."
You sighed with a light smile, and walked over to him, and took his hands, "Roderich, just slow down a bit for me, and try again."
You sat beside him and played beside me, and when you got something wrong, instead of snapping and nagging at you, he manipulated your fingers and hands so they played like he was. So in the following weeks, you became better and better, and you were able to work the piano just as he had hoped for an amateur.
After the musical was done he said, "I want to take you out to dinner for a reward for your brilliant work."
"But wouldn't that look like we're dating? That's how Feliciano was fired." You said.
He chuckled lightly, "About that, I was already more or less fired, but they knew that I wanted a student to play that part so bad, so they allowed me one last request that my student can play the piece before I had to leave."
"Oh…so was it all an act? I could've just left but you didn't let me."
"No, I really did care that you didn't get what you want, and yes I may have been selfish, but I really thought you had potential and that you could do it…so what about that dinner?"
You smiled and nodded, "I'd like that."
So after helping him put his equipment in his vehicle, and dropping it off at his house, you both went out to dinner.
