Yeah, this came right out of nowhere. Seriously, I was writing tendershipping and then *poof* polarshipping.

Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh

Mai's lilac eyes fluttered, crossing a bit to see what as tickling her nose.

A butterfly, wings like stained glass in varying shades of blue and yellow. She reached out to touch it, but it sensed the movement and flew away, delicate wings brushing her pale cheekbone.

Mai leaped from her chair and, leaving her sandals, began to chase after the beautiful creature. Grass tickled her feet, wind tangled her golden hair.

But Mai couldn't care less. Moments like this brought back her childhood.

The grass she was running through seemed to transform into a small playground, a paradise of metal and concrete.

The butterfly was now a firefly, a glowing flicker in the shadowy night.

The rural neighborhood around her became a busy city, streetlights shining from every direction.

*Flashback*

Her father's job had brought her family to America, and just in time for a holiday. Fireworks sporadically lit up the sky, making it seem earlier than it actually was. However, the fireworks were ignored by the six year old blonde. Her attention was focused on the glowing bug floating in the air. She was s focused that her father's shouts went unanswered.

"Mai? Mai? Honey, come back inside!"

*End Flashback*

"Mai! Mai! Honey, Téa just called!"

Well, that snapped her out of her memories.

"Just a sec, Joey, I need to put my shoes on."

Before she could turn around, familiar arms wrapped around her waist.

"She said to call back when you could. No rush."

Mai sighed in contentment, lolling her head on Joey's shoulder. "Weren't you going to clean the attic today?"

"I was, but you looked adorable dancing in the yard."

"No- in the park," Mai corrected.

"Hmm?" The confused sound Joey made reminded Mai of a puppy-a very cute, lost puppy.

Mai giggled and twisted, pressing a quick kiss to the bridge of his nose. "I'll tell you later."

**Later**

A few hours later, both blondes were curled up in a blanket, staring up at the stars.

"But I never got my firefly," Mai mumbled tiredly.

"Really? Before the divorce, my mom used to make firefly jars for me and Serenity. Best nightlights ever, I tell ya."

Mai giggled and looked up at her fiancée with a sleepy smile.

"I'd love that."
