Poetry

"'In the ocean of admission the voices swim'...Ne, Suou, help me with the next line!"

Imonoyama Nokoru tapped the pencil he was holding against his cheek, staring down with a thoughtful expression at the paper on the desk before him while leaning back lazily in his large chair. He had recently read an impressive collection of poetry, and it had made him curious to try some himself. But it was proving harder than expected.

Takamura Suou stomped over to him, plopping a stack of papers on top of his poetry. Nokoru blinked at the stack, then lifted his head to blink up at his friend.

"Do the paper work first," Suou demanded. "You can do poetry later!"

"But if I don't do it now, the creative muses will fade!" Nokoru cried in a 'hurt' voice, giving Suou a wide eyed look.

Suou sighed, raising a hand to his forehead and closing his eyes. "You really haven't changed one bit..." he murmured. They were in high school now, and on the high school student board instead of the elementary school's, the three of them still working together even after all this time. And yet it sometimes seemed like the only thing that had really changed was their height.

"But that's what you love about me!" Nokoru exclaimed with a bright smile, spreading his arms out wide and just narrowly missing sending all of the papers in the stack before him flying.

"What I would really love would be for this paperwork to get done," Suou retorted, crossing his arms and looking down at the Chairman expectantly.

Completely ignoring him, Nokoru picked up the pencil he had dropped on the desk. "How about I write you a poem, Suou?"

"Did you hear me at all!"

"Let's see, 'The one who protects, who is never mean, who would never force anyone to be bored out of their mind with annoying paperwork...'"

"It won't work," Suou interrupted. "Just get it done already, and then you can get back to doing whatever you want." With that said, he turned on his heels and walked over to his desk, where he sat down as well and began working on his own paperwork to complete, seemingly dismissing Nokoru, though the blonde knew he was still being kept an eye on.

With an over exaggerated sigh, he reluctantly pulled the first paper down, placing it in front of him and giving it a look of distinct distaste. He glanced over at Suou for a moment, then slouched down to hide behind the stack.

"Chairman," came Suou's voice in warning, causing Nokoru to flinch and straighten up again, giving the blue haired boy an apologetic smile and a nervous laugh. He could never get away with anything around Suou, he thought in dismay, looking down at the poem he had once again begun working on.

But then again, that was yet another thing that had never changed between them, as their friendship continued to grow stronger and closer. The fact that Suou knew him just that well was actually more heart warming than annoying.

Glancing over at the other boy one last time with a gentle smile, Nokoru finally signed the first paper, then the next, and the next, quickly slipping into his work mind state and reading, and remembering, the content on each extraordinarily fast.

After all, he shouldn't make trouble for his beloved Secretary all the time.
