This is a Fairy Tail fan fiction. Okay, so this is based when the gang was younger in like those flashbacks? I'm saying twelve-ish.

Natsu grinned as he carried the new born Happy in his arms. He didn't really know too well how to take care of a baby flying cat but he thought he was doing well so far. At least with Gray and Erza's help. He hummed softly to himself as he traveled to the guild hall. When he got inside, Natsu spotted Gray immediately.

"Hey Gray! Did you get any fish for Happy?" Natsu asked.

"You really could have come up with a better name than that." Gray commented. "But yeah."

Natsu scowled at him.

"Happy is a good name for him!" Natsu countered.

"It sounds stupid."

"I think it's a fine name." A strong sounding feminine voice stated. "Gray. Put on a shirt for Pete's sake!"

Natsu smirked smugly at Gray while he scowled right back at him. Sighing, Gray conceded and went off to the back to find wherever his shirt ended up. Approaching Natsu, Erza held out her hands slightly.

"Can I hold him?"

Nodding, Natsu handed off the tiny little Happy into Erza's outstretched arms. She stroked the area between his ears causing Happy to purr slightly. She smiled contently while Gray resurfaced, wearing a shirt this time, and with a wrapped up raw fish in his hands. Erza raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure it's a good idea to give that to Happy?"

"He seemed pretty happy with it before." Natsu shrugged.

"But what if he chokes? He's still only a kitten."

"Hmm… Happy seems to eat it just fine though. I'd feel pretty bad taking it away from him. He loves fish."

Walking over, Gray handed the fish to Natsu. Ears and nose perking up, Happy opened his eyes at the scent of the fish wafting over to him. His eyes landed on the fish and he grinned merrily.

"Fish! Thank you, Sir!" Happy exclaimed, and jumped from Erza's arms to Natsu's, lying on his back and digging into his prize.

"Wait a second, Happy! You're not supposed to eat the paper!"

"Blah." Happy spit out the paper in his mouth and with his tiny claws ripped the rest of it away from the fish, beginning to munch on it happily.

"Sir?" Erza wondered to Gray who started chuckling while Natsu was distracted by Happy.

"Yeah. Happy called him 'mommy' at first and Natsu got all huffy. He probably can't pronounce his name so he just took something that someone else called him."

"I see."

When Erza cast her glance back to Natsu and Happy, her eyes widened when she noticed the fish was completely gone. Happy patted his stomach while Natsu affectionately scratched him behind the ears. Happy looked up with Natsu with big, watery eyes.

"More?"

"No, Happy. That's all I have and you shouldn't be eating so much anyway."

Tears began to fill the kitten's eyes and he wailed.

"HAPPY WANT MORE FISH!"

"Gah!" Natsu's eyes widened and he grew clueless about what to do. He usually was fine with only one fish…

"Great job, Natsu." Gray said.

"Hey! It's not my fault! Come and help me."

"How? I wasn't able to get any more than one."

Natsu frowned at him and patted Happy's head softly.

"It's okay, Happy. You'll get more fish later."

"Really?"

"Yep, because good kitties get fish."

Happy sniffled and nodded.

"Here, you can do this instead." Natsu smiled and placed Happy on his head.

"Happy can see lots!" Happy smiled.

"Hey Erza, can you get the fish this time?" Natsu asked, not wanting to be without one, in case Happy became upset again.

"Sure." Erza replied, leaving Natsu and Gray to take care of Happy.
