Normally his hair is silver. It is soft, silken, gossamer strands made of spider-webs, hair that screams for smoothing and caresses. Normally he is silver-mercury quick, a flash in the corner of your eye, always one with the shadows, with only the sigh of a footstep betraying his presence.
But now his spider-web hair is scarlet, and he is slow, and no longer so very quiet, stumbling out of the shadows, thick blood coming out of his mouth, staining them a crimson that Hathor could never duplicate.
O'Neill is dying, and for some reason Ba'al knows he will miss him.
