Patriotism. What does it mean? Is it the American Dream where all people are free? Is it the promise of a new land, a land where hopes and prosperity abolish hate and defamation of others? Or is it merely a post card saying "Hello from Texas!"? A dream, long forgotten in the ashes of a former American people? Being frozen for over 60 years takes a while to get used to physically. But when you wake up to something that is entirely different from where you started, your life just doesn't seem to have as much meaning. Especially, for me. This country, which has been led by men who have changed the world over and is filled with courageous minds alike, seems to have vanished. Take a look at where we are now. We have soldiers being killed day in and day out for what? What they think is their loyal country? Their guiding backbone for what society says is the leader of the world? No. They do it because they have to. Politicians, so called leaders, have become less a governmental figure, and more of a celebrity. They take all the glory, fame and prosper given by the people and in return, promise change. But the change will never come. Change is something promised by people, but rarely given. It just happens. Abraham Lincoln once said "Of the people, by the people, for the people." The United States of America was built by revolutionaries, people who believed in a better world. A better humanity. This country is not what it used to be. It never will be. Change will always be present and happening throughout time. Nothing can stop that. But what we can do, what the American people can do, is make the change something to live for. To create, build, dream and die for. Something that humanity has seem to forgotten, but with the tiniest glimpse, can start anew. I see justice, the freedom of all men and women in our great country, at the palm of our hands. All we need to do is really open ourselves up to it. America needs someone brave, a guiding light to show them the true means of what it is to really live. What they need, is a captain.
