THE DRAGON AND HIS NEST

If there is one peculiar thing about this certain dragon, it is that he never leaves his nest.

It wasn't his very small stature that bothered anybody.… well to be honest, of course at first it did. He's just a small thing. So little, almost the size of Crookshanks! As Hermione exclaimed.

Nobody mentioned it again after the dragon blew fire from his nose with a growl, threatening and maybe, pissed.

And if you ever wonder, nope, he has not lain any eggs and Merlin if he heard you say anything about incubating, he will definitely roast you. He will not lay eggs today nor in the future for he is certainly male thank you very much. The only thing you should be questioning about instead is that how in world can a dragon understand human speech like how Ron lamented, caressing his burnt hand.

You could ask your brother, Charlie, when he's back from Romania. He's rumored to be a dragon whisperer after all, Seamus suggested. But Luna expressed her doubts if he could help with anything and the others ignored her as usual.

Oh, and another thing, his nest is different as well.

It isn't the same kind of nest like any other animals. It isn't made out of random twigs, dead leaves, icky saliva and other magical plants they use to build it to protect their young or as their home.

It was Hermione's hair. Well, that's what she claims it is. But again, to be honest, others secretly doubted her. I mean look at it, look at it! It's all over the place! So frizzy! There's just so much of it! It looks like it's full of secrets with its size. And don't even mention whenever she has bad hair day.

People commented on it multiple times. In her opinion though, she was picked on about it.

Her hair really looks like how Muggles drew witches', Harry chuckled, showing a photo of a 'witch' with bushy hair complete with a crooked nose and hollow frame.

"Harry, that's a hag!" Hermione protested and they all laughed aloud causing the dragon to stir awake by the movement of her shoulders and their noise.

Maybe her hair is magical after all. Ron remembered how those things would be wild and crackling with static whenever she's furious. And it is a fiercely strong magic, he pondered, being its victim numerous times.

And now a dragon is drawn to it.

Others nodded. That's actually a good theory, they thought.

Remember when Draco used to say that it's a nest? That he would not be even surprised if we'll find a book in there? Maybe that's what it really is. With all that disgusting saliva and all, Lavender stupidly 'theorized' and giggled. Hermione, Harry, and Ginny know it's a badly concealed insult. But hey, you know how she cares about Lavender, like rubbish, Ginny would whisper back to Harry later once they're alone.

Everybody hushed, remembering the horrid prick that soured their youth except for two who remembered a certain tryst at the Room of Requirement. Hermione felt the dragon sighed and cuddled closer to her neck. His scales feeling cold against her skin.

Luna yawned and others felt the lulling lullabies of sleep as well. After saying goodbyes, they all went up their dorms save for Harry and Ginny as they want to have their date. It is only when Hermione closed her windows shut, laid on her bed, settled the dragon on her chest that she uttered a single wand less spell she acquainted herself with back in fourth year.

"Alius alarom noscere"

Hermione is smart like Luna. Don't you ever wonder how she managed to know what Rita Seeker is?

"Do you, Draco?" she whispered and the dragon widened his eyes and then snorted, which is, she suppose, a chuckle.
