Steph: I have written this Obi-Wan Kenobi x R2-D2 fic. Contrary to popular belief, this couple did not begin by pulling two names out of a hat. They were pulled out of Star Wars book. But you must see the deep chemistry between them. I mean, they spent 3 ½ whole movies together! Of course they have chemistry!
You're My Only Hope
"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
As the image of the princess flickered into nothing, R2-D2 whirred and beeped happily, jubilant at having fulfilled his mission. He rocked backwards and forwards on his little legs while the lights on his cylindrical body flashed numerous colours.
He was ignored however, by the three other beings in the room: C-3PO, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although he understood the humans, they could not interpret his robotic language without Threepio. They were discussing many things – something about Skywalker's father, lightsabres and the Force. This, however, meant little to the R2 unit. All his electrical circuits were concerned with was…
"I'll take you back to your aunt and uncle's place in a moment, Luke. Wait outside for a moment."
The old man ushered Threepio and the adolescent boy outside, before turning back to Artoo.
"Now, my little droid, let's have another look at that message."
Artoo issued a series of beeps and chirps incomprehensible to Kenobi. Kenobi stroked his beard in puzzlement.
"A moment ago you were so eager to show me that message. Come on now, it won't take long."
Artoo's electronic sounds became more agitated, more high pitched. Kenobi quieted the little droid and patted his domed head. Artoo emitted a low whirring sound, and the light on the front of his body flashed between red and purple.
The recording played again, but without the picture this time. The last line, repeated over and over again.
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope. You're my only hope. You're my only hope."
And once more, but this time, not in the princess' voice. This time, it was more mechanical, more artificial.
"You're my only hope."
I don't give whether you review or not. But please, if you enjoy reading weirdo couples for the hell of it, look at the rest of the YouCan'tBeSerious teams works. They are fantastic. Thank you for reading this short and pointless story.
