Pancakes and Daffodils
by Zanza
Kathryn Janeway awoke to see Katie, Jesse and Eliza
towering over her.
"Mommy, mommy!" said little Eliza. "Liza make card for
Mommy day!"
"Mother's Day." Katie rolled her eyes as she corrected
her little sister.
Kathryn smiled as she looked over the handmade card her
one year old had made.
"Look Mommy! I made you daffowdils." said Jesse.
"Daffodils." corrected Katie.
"Dafoodiwls!" chimed in Eliza.
"Oh Jesse! They're beautiful." Katie rolled her eyes.
"Well, mom, look what *I* made you." said Katie superiorly.
Kathryn smiled at her oldest child.
"Chocolate chip pancakes! My favorite breakfast." As she
set them aside all three children jumped on her. The
door chimed.
"Oh, that must be Naomi!" said Katie excitiedly.
"She's going to take us to play with Newy and Hawy."
Kathryn smiled at the reference to the two year old
Paris twins, who were just Jesse's age.
"Not just Nelly and Harry! I'd rather play with Miral."
"Go on. Go play with your friends." Eliza lingered, then
asked Naomi if she could go play with Emily, the Kim's
first child. Kathryn watched them go, then took a bite
of the pancakes, thinking how lucky she was to have such
thoughtful children.
