Susan: To all those people who are thinking 'WHY AREN'T YOU WRITING YOUR CURRENT STORIES INSTEAD OF THESE STRANGE DRABBLES?", I know, I know. I should be writing that, but I have two reasons for not. One, I lost my thumb drive with most of the chapter on it, and two, I've been in a bad mood for the last few months, and have been having trouble writing anything that isn't just cute-sy in an attempt to lift my mood. Alara has not had a chance to read this, so sorry if there are tons of misspellings and bits that don't make sense. I don't own anything Kingdom Hearts related, or its characters, or anything like that. I hope you enjoy!
Axel's POV
Roxas snuggled closer to me, his face pressed tightly between my arm and chest. He shivered, slightly, and I wrapped my other arm around him, trying to ward off the chill as I thumbed the gold ring on my left hand. We were sitting on the couch, the embers in the fireplace dying as snow fell outside. I looked down at my small companion, kissing the top of his head and grinning as his hair tickled my nose. I'd never gotten used to seeing my red hair against his spiky blond, the colors contrasting in a way that made me smile.
"Axel?" Roxas mumbled sleepily, opening his eyes just wide enough to make sure it was me.
"Yeah?" I cupped his cheek, tilting his face up so I could watch him blink slowly. Roxas was adorable right after he woke up, and I made sure to store the moment in my memories.
"L't's go t' bed. 's cold."
"Alright." Shifting Roxas so my long arms held him firmly, I got up and walked to our bedroom. He was already in his pajamas, having gotten ready for bed while I started the fire. Roxas clung to my as I set him down, and his sleeves fell down, revealing partially healed burns. It'd been an accident. He'd startled me, and had been burned as a result. Gently pulling his hands from my arms, I tucked him in and kissed him softly.
"Axel," my lover whined, rolling so he was curled up on my pillow and blindly reaching for me.
"You know that I love you, right Roxas?" I asked, petting his hair.
"'Course. I love you too." He murmured, still mostly asleep, for which I was thankful. He wouldn't hear how my voice caught this way.
"I'll do anything I can to protect you." This was whispered so quietly it was practically just a breath of air. Taking off the ring, I placed it on the bedside table before breathing in the scent of Roxas' apple shampoo. My hand felt light without the ring, but I resisted the urge to put it back where it'd rested for nearly four years. Then I left, my weapons held tightly in my hands, knowing I wouldn't be coming back.
Susan: Sooooo…Sappy, sad and kinda cute was what I was going for. Anyone who wants to leave me a little review telling me what they liked, didn't like, or think I should fix with my writing, will be adored. If you don't want to, I at least hope you enjoyed the little snippet.
