It had been close to 4 months after Vailen had been discovered. Aela Kasnos had been chosen
as one of the participants in it's colonization program. They arrived just 2 months ago, her and
24 others. She barely knew anyone at all and she had been terrified of going to the planet, she
knew how cold it was. The Hierarchy had already placed a base on Vailen. Aela thought this
was odd as Turians generally despised the cold. She dismissed the thought as there was
probably something worth finding on the planet, most likely resources. But she grew worried
about the 'What if's'. There were so many possible answers and she began to worry. What if the
Hierarchy knew something they didn't? Why were they specifically trained to handle shotguns
and heavy pistols? If they truely had nothing to worry about, why were they given all of these
heavier weapons such as Carnifexes and Katana shotguns? They even had an anti-material rifle
with them. She knew she was getting extremely paranoid, but it was suspicious to her. After
finishing her thoughts, she looked out of the small window to her left.
"Icy, as to be expected." She mumbled to herself. Normally windows would not have been
included to maintain warmth, but these windows were small, and heavily insulated. From her
experiences, the view outside was blocked by whiteout conditions that frequented the planet.
She got up from the chair at her desk and headed to her bunk, it was still daylight out, but the
planet rotated very slowly, days would usually take 10 normal days in the winter, and take
nearly a month in the 'summer'. She laid on her bunk and pulled her blanket up to her, making
sure to wrap herself up warmly and shut her eyes. She had a hard time falling asleep as her
previous thoughts visited her again. She eventually did fall asleep after what seemed to be an
hour to her.
