So I was frustrated with the way this story was starting to turn out so I went back and fixed and rewrote some of the chapters. I do apologize if I am confusing my readers with this. I hope this is better than the way I had it. For those who are new I hope you enjoy. I am back and will be keeping my word and updating this story more. Please read and review!

Chapter one

He moved back and forth. He walked into the living room and back to the table.

"What's wrong Luke?" I asked him.

He sighed and walked back into the living room.

"Why are you sad?"

He looked at me. A deep frown on his face.

"I can't take her anymore. How do you stand her?"

"What?"

"Kendi, she is crazy. How do you stand being home with her some days?"

"I dunno."

"I just can't take any more. She has her episodes more and more. How do you do it?"

"I dunno."

"What am I gonna do?"

"I dunno."

Luke moved back into the living room. I turned in my chair to watch him.

He looked so sad.

I climbed out of my chair and walked to him.

He sat on the green sofa, picking away at the holes.

"Luke..."

"I can't take it anymore. I don't know if I could deal with another one of her episodes."

"Oh."

We sat there. The only sound in the room was the clock ticking away.

"Luke, when does mommy get home?"

"Soon."

I stood up and walked towards the kitchen. The sink was filled with dirty dishes from yesterday's lunch. I pulled the chair to the counter, climbing up. I searched for the little red box.

My fingers grasped the old plastic. I pulled off the lid. The smell of over baked cookies filled my nose.

I pulled out two cookies. I took a small bite of one before I carefully climbed down from the chair.

I brought the cookies to Luke and placed one his lap. I took a seat on the sofa next to Luke.

He looked up at me and smiled.

"You always know how to make me feel better Kendi."

I took a small bite of my cookie.

Luke took the cookie in one hand. The other hand he used to pick at the thread on the sofa.

He bit into the cookie and made a face. His nose scrunched up.

"It would be nice to have good cookies once in a while." he said laughing.

I bit into my cookie again.

"Are you okay Luke?"

"I'm okay. I just don't know how much more I can take of mom."

"Why?"

"Her episodes. Some days all she can talk about is my fate. What fate? I don't even know what she means but she goes on and on about it. She scares you. Kenz, I just can't take anymore."

"Luke, what does fate mean?"

"I'm not really sure Kenz."

"Oh."

I finished my cookie and pushed all the crumbs off of me and onto the floor.

Luke took another bite of his cookie.

"Hey Kenz."

"What?"

"How about I make our usual breakfast tomorrow?"

"Yes please."

The clock chimed on the wall. I jumped at the sound. Luke laughed at me.

"Mom should be home soon."

I nodded.

"Luke, what are you doing about mommy?"

"When I figure something out I will tell you."

The hum of a car was heard outside. Luke strode to the window across the room, pulling the peach drapes to the side.

"Kendi, go to your room for a while. Mom just showed up."

"Okay."

I walked down the hall quickly. I passed Mommy's room, Luke's room ad my room was the last. I pushed the door open and closed it behind me. I pushed the door until it clicked. The light switch was next to the door. The light lit up the room a little bit.

A small bed was pushed up next to the wall across the room. I had a small table and lamp next to my bed. I crawled onto the small mattress and tugged on the old blue blanket. I pulled the fabric close to me, pulling it over my head.

I could hear mommy close the front door.

The house was quiet for a little bit.

I pulled the blanket off my head and listened for any little sounds. I heard the fridge door squeak open and slam shut. The sound echoed.

I heard small whispers. They were not very loud. I climbed off the bed, pulling my blanket tighter around me. I pressed my ear against the door.

I could hear them a little more.

"How was your day Luke?"

He mumbled an answer to mommy.

"Luke, you know how much I hate it when you mumble. Please speak up. How was your day."

"My day was okay."

"Good my dear."

She began to hum a soft melody. She used to hum all the time. The sound only came every now and then now. Her voice was soft when she hummed. It always made me feel safe.

The sound of her voice carried through out the silent house for along moment of silence.

I pressed me ear closer to the door. The sound of her voice made me happy. It was like it had been so long ago.

The melody of her hum ended. A crash filled the air.

"Your fate. My son you fate. Not your fate." Mommy screeched.

"Stop it!" Luke shouted.

"Your fate. Must stop your fate. It can't be your fate. Not my son."

"Stop it!"

I pulled my blanket back over my head pressing my hands over my ears.

"Hermes, his fate. Stop his fate."

"Stop mom stop!"

The sounds were loud. They hurt my ears.

My hands pushed harder into my ears. The noise wouldn't go away. The noise was growing louder.

I pushed the blanket off my head and pulled the door open. I moved slowly down the hall.

Luke stood by the kitchen table. I could see he had his own hands pressed against his own ears. His eyes were wide.

I heard another crash.

"His fate. Their fates. Help me Hermes!" She cried.

Another plate crashed onto the tile floor.

Luke flinched at the sound. I squeezed my eyes shut.

"There fate!" She wailed, flinging another plate to the ground.

I opened my eyes a little, taking a small peek at mommy.

She stood in the kitchen moving around from one side to the other. She stumbled around. Her body was shaking. Her hands covered her face as she slowly slid them back to pull on her hair. She moved around like she was hurt. She was scary looking. She crashed into the counter. Dishes and the cookie box fell to the ground. The dishes broke and the cookies scattered around.

"Hermes their fates. Stop their fates!"

"Stop it!" Luke yelled.

I closed my eyes again tight.

"Their fates! Hermes!"

"Stop it!"

A cry escaped my lips. I felt myself slide to the ground.

"Stop it! Stop it!"

I was shaking. I cried hard. Tears slipped down my face. My breathing was heavy.

"Their fates!"

"Stop it!"

"Hermes help!"

"Stop!"

So here is the new chapter one. I will have chapter 2 out by tomorrow night. Thank you for reading and please review. Your reviews help me write better!
