Roman smiled as Keely walked into the living room with their two month old daughter, Mila. They were heading to Nick and Kari's to celebrate Easter. He picked Garrett, who was now 19 months old.
"Ready to go?" He asked his wife.
"We're ready." She smiled. She picked up the diaper bag while he picked up the bag that had the dessert she had made. She placed Mila into her infant seat and they headed out to her SUV. Roman put Garrett in while Keely put Mila in. Once everyone was in, they headed toward Kari's.
"About time you guys got here." Kari said with a smile as she carried her and Nick's 11 month old daughter, Mia.
"Sorry. But my little girl here didn't want to get dressed." Keely smiled.
"She's just excited about her first Easter." Kari smiled. "Now, we have eggs hidden. Dinner is ready. So, let's eat and then the kids can hunt Easter eggs."
They headed into the house and Roman put Garrett in a high chair while Keely kept Mila in her infant seat and placed it near her. They were soon eating after saying grace.
"This food is really good." Roman said as they eat.
"Thanks. I used some of Keely's recipes because we know she is more talented in the kitchen than I am. But I tried."
"I think you did a great job." Keely replied. She looked at Kari's parents, who were there as well. They had been great to her. They offered to keep Garrett and Mila to give her and Roman some time alone. And they were like another set of grandparents for the kids.
They enjoyed the dinner and dessert and then headed outside for the Easter egg hunt. Kari smiled as she got her camera out to take some pictures. She watched as Nick held their daughter's hand and her basket as she hunted eggs. She laughed at Garrett, who didn't want Roman to hold his hand while he hunted eggs. She looked at her parents, who were so happy watching the entire scene. She then turned to Keely, who was holding Mila. She was so happy that they were all doing so good.
"Mommy, I gots the most." Garrett said as he walked up to Keely.
"Let's see baby." She smiled as Roman took Mila and she bent down to count Garrett's Easter eggs. "You have ten eggs." She replied. She looked at Nick. "And how many did Miss Mia get?"
"She got nine." He replied.
"Well, it seems that Garrett had the most." Kari replied. "So, he gets this Easter basket with the giant chocolate bunny. And Miss Mia gets this Easter basket with the medium chocolate bunny. And they both get these plastic eggs with candy inside." She looked at Mila. "And little Miss Mila, get this stuffed bunny. And everyone has something from the Easter bunny here."
Everyone laughed as the Easter items were given out. Keely looked at Kari. "This has been a great day."
"It has." Kari replied. "And Nick and I have some great news." She smiled at her husband. "We are expecting another baby. So, next Easter, we will have a new addition."
"That's great." Keely replied and hugged her. "I'm so happy for you. Now we both will have two little ones."
Kari laughed. "Yes, we will." She smiled. "And I can't wait."
Keely laughed. "Remember that when you have two little ones. Garrett and Mila are only 17 months apart. Mia and the new one will be how many?"
"18 months." Kari smiled.
Keely laughed. "Alright. Then you will know what I deal with every day."
"You love being a mom."
"I do." Keely replied. "I wouldn't take anything for my little ones."
Kari smiled. "Now, let's go enjoy this Easter with our husbands and kids." Keely nodded and they headed over to where Roman and Nick were sitting with the kids.
Kari looked around. She was happy that a new baby would be joining their family. And she couldn't wait to meet her new little one.
