Today was the day, I was turning eight. Dad had shaken me awake way before the sun had peeked into Uncle Bobby's spare bedroom. Sliding out of the bed as quietly as possible, I quickly changed into my clothes and ran to the door, sparing one last glance at a slumbering Sammy before heading down stairs.
"Happy Birthday Dean" Uncle Bobby said looking up from his paper.
"Thank you Uncle Bobby, where's dad?"
"Outside"
"Happy birthday Dean- your mom would be so proud" he said getting all misty.
"Now Dean, for your birthday I am gonna teach you how to file down a gun." He said beckoning me forward off the porch.
"This present can help you protect Sammy, and we must protect Sammy, Dean."
