Good Morning

There was a time where he thought she really cared about him.

"Good morning, Tasia." She'd dutifully say to him every morning when he walked into his office. He'd always absentmindedly wave her off as he would restlessly start procrastinating again.

That's just the way he was with everything. She never commented on it. He wasn't quite so sure if she cared. But in the end, she always followed him anyway.

That's why he never should've fallen to Frank Archer that night. Remember back, he could almost feel the suffocating flames from the house rising behind him. Once again, he heard metallic clanking sounds coming from ahead, and saw a deformed Frank Archer before he passed out.

There was a time when he knew he really loved her.

"Taisa, taisa! Wake up! Taisa!" Even subconsciously, he knew it had to her hands shaking him out of his dark oblivion. He groggily opened up his eyes to see her worried face peering at his. He looked past her shoulder to see Archer fire just one shot towards them. That was the last time Archer ever saw anything at all.

And always, he would wonder if she ever loved him back. He would never know now, would he?

Each day after that, he would force himself out of bed and go to work, busying himself until the wee hours of the night. Without anyone there to watch over him, he rarely went home again, often sleeping in his office most of the time.

At last, was it a week, a month? Or years? Time didn't matter to him anymore. He finally forced himself to trudge up the hill where she and Hughes rested. He stood there by himself for hours, words waiting to leap out. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.

Good morning, Tasia. He could almost hear her say.

He closed his mouth. A lone tear trickled down his cheek.

"Riza," he heard himself saying. "It's raining again."
