Meant To Be

Prologue:

"Jules!" Shawn wasn't sure where the urgency he was feeling was coming from. All he knew was that he had to tell her how he felt before she did something stupid. He started running after her as she walked down the street to her car.

"Jules!" The urgency was growing in him. The need to tell her how he hadn't had a good night sleep since that night was overwhelming. The need to tell her that he couldn't do his job anymore because he was constantly thinking about her was overwhelming. He felt like he would explode if he couldn't tell her.

She was closer now, close enough to hear him. "Jules!" His voice rang with the desperation that he couldn't suppress.

She stopped and turned around while he caught up with her. "What?" Shawn winced at the sound of anger in her voice. He deserved it. He knew that. But he had to know how she felt after all these years.

He tried to catch his breath, but the task seemed impossible at the moment, "I just…I wanted to…" He sighed in frustration at not being able to find the right words. The right words to tell her how much she meant to him. To tell her how sorry he was.

She turned and began to walk away again. Shawn knew that she was just going back to her apartment, .her apartment that was only ten minutes away from his. But for some reason the thought of letting her leave without telling her meant her leaving him forever. She wouldn't be his Jules anymore.

He reached out in desperation, one last attempt, and pulled her close. He didn't mind the people walking around them. To him, it was only her. Only Jules. He pulled her closer, "I love you," he whispered and closed the distance between their lips in a gentle, yet desperate kiss.

The sounds of the world faded away as she wrapped her arms around him and deepened the kiss. Shawn felt a tear brush his face. He wasn't sure if it was his tear or Jules. He didn't care though. He was with her. His Jules.
