It wasn't meant to of come this far, he wasn't supposed to fall so hard. And yet, here he was, stuck on this endless road of not being able to think of anything but her, though not being able to do anything about it.
How had this happened? He wasn't even supposed to like her! But as he shifted in his chair slightly and opened his eyes a little wider, staring at the woman who had stolen his heart, he realised that he would always love her.
Always.
Kumiko sighed in frustration and hit her desk with a loud bang. 3 D quietened down and looked at her before they started to yell and laugh again. And so the process of each day continued. Would anybody ever listen to her?
With a growl she walked over to the nearest desk and threw it to the side, surprising quite a few young men in front of her.
"For god's sake, can't any of 'ya just answer a simple question? Or are you too dumb to work out middle school work?" now the entire class were staring at the fuming teacher, their mouths hanging open while she continued to stomp her foot and yell. "I am sick and tired of no one ever at least trying! I have half the mind to fail you no-"
"Twelve," a calm voice interrupted her softly, and everyone turned to look at the figure slumped over his desk.
Kumiko's eyes widened a bit, before she turned her head on the side. Sawada Shin?
"What?"
Shin lifted his head up and rested it on his palm.
"The answer," he said, eyes still drooping. "It's twelve."
The rest of 3 D turned back to Kumiko, or Yankumi, as they liked to call her, to see how she would respond.
She stared blankly at him for a few seconds before breaking out in a huge grin.
"Ah, I can't believe it, such a genius in my class!" 3 D cheered and Shin rolled his eyes.
Jeez, it's not like it was hard or anything.
As the bell rang for the end of class, everyone immediately started leaving, but Kumiko called out to Shin.
"Sawada san? Can you stay back for a minute?"
He lazily stood up, grabbed his bag, and walked up to the front of the class while the others ran out.
"Yes?" he asked quietly. She was just standing in front of him now, his heart was beating wildly, and he was afraid that she would hear it.
"Minoru has a new recipe he wants you to try out," she said, as she made a face, one that he nearly broke out a grin for. "Can you come for dinner tonight?"
He looked away from her eager face to hide his embarrassment.
Calm down, Shin, he told himself. She's your teacher and you're just her student. Minoru wants you there, not her.
"I suppose I could," he finally decided in a bored tone, yet his insides were squirming as he saw how happy she looked after he had said so.
"Okay then, just don't be late, you know how he gets." Shin had to smile at that. Last time he had wandered in late he had ended up with a frying pan to the head. His friends wouldn't let it be until he said that an unknown group had done it.
"Sure."
She smiled at him then went back to pick up her bag. "See you later then, and thanks for answering in class today, you really are a life-saver."
He looked at her retreating form as her words repeated themselves over in his head.
'You really are a lifesaver…'
"I'll always be your lifesaver… Kumiko…"
Always.
