"Wait what? When? How? We were always supposed to stay in our room until the day of the competition."

"Apparently, someone didn't play along with the rules. We found a body by the stairs down the hall of the third floor. The body was so torn up that nobody could recognize it, the arms, legs and head were all detached and blood was spilled everywhere. We were only able to identify it by the clothes, it was recognized to be Ryan who was living on the third floor room. I came running here to check if you were okay, but there was no reply."

I was surprised that this took place right below my room also, Dorian was usually the calm one, it was extremely rare to see him shakened up like this. It's absolutely a sight I would have regretted my whole life not seeing. Perhaps, he was worried about me? Then reality slapped me in the face. Why would he like someone like me?

"Let's go check out the body," I said.

"I think it's better if you don't," Dorian said as he blocked the doorway.

I rolled my eyes and pushed passed him. Heading for the floor below, when I arrived at the crime scene, I immediately regret not listening to Dorian. It wouldn't be surprising if I lose my appetite for few days, maybe even for a week. I've never seen someone killed in such a disgusting way. It's as if a mad dog came ripped the body apart but, there was no wound found indicating how the victim died so there was a huge possibility that the victim was torn apart while alive. Just thinking of the possibility sent a shiver down my spine. Who could be cruel?

"We were only able to identify the person because we've found that the clothes. Celaena...it was Ryan," Dorian said.

My legs immediately gave away, Dorian was able to catch me and he pulled me into his arms, a moment later tear starting to flow down my cheeks. I couldn't believe it, the sweet Ryan, the one who befriended me when nobody else did was dead? It seemed so unreal to me, could I possibly be still dreaming?

Dorian walked me back to my room, I retreated into my room after wishing Dorian goodnight. I thought a lot about it, with the upcoming competition in two days, I don't know if I should be happy or sad that there is one less person to compete against. Ryan was a nice guy, even if he looks like a muscle man, he has a soft and caring side to him. I know this because I've seen it, as the only female champion, Ryan has always treated me with care and I knew that he never wanted to fight me. I thought about his kind smile as a tear rolled down my face. I sobbed softly into my pillow then, my suspicion starts to circle around the other remaining champion, Cain. Surely, the one with the greatest benefit if a champion was killed would be Cain, all the better with another enemy out of the way. Since I wasn't the one who did it, there is only one person who could've possibly done it. Cain, he'll pay for this.
