Bad Blow
''Don't you dare to leave now! I swear -''
She spun around, anger written on her face. ''What? What do you swear? Come on tell me! Let's hear what the asshole has to say!''
His fists clenched and his voice changed from a loud yelling to a deathly hissing.
''I swear I'll leave you.''
She snorted in amusement. ''How very very sad ...''
''And I'll take the kids with me.''
It took a few seconds for her to realize what he had said and her eyes widened in horror.
''NO! No! You don't get to take my children away from me! You don't get to threaten me like this! You're disgusting, a monster, a biest! Go, leave me but the kids you won't get. First you have to get past me and my sisters!''
He laughed dryly. ''Oh please. What, do you think your dear sisters will help you in this? Look around, they're not here. You're all alone.''
She glared at him.
''You better think twice before you leave me. You might never see your children again.'', he added, smirking.
She took a step towards him and made a grimace.
''God, you have been drinking.'', she said and turned away, shaking her head.
He threw his hands angrily in the air and he narrowed his eyes.
''What do you expect me to do? You fucking CHEATED on me with my best friend! You -''
She was furious by now. ''And you took revenge by cheating on ME with MY best friend, or what?! I told you I was sorry and I had been drunk that night long before you slept with Amanda! AND YOU TOLD ME YOU FORGAVE ME!''
''WELL, I DID NOT! We're even now.'', his voice slowly became quieter again.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment and then answered in a shaky voice.
''Our marriage was and is falling apart. It already was before Jake, before Amanda and before you started drinking. I don't care if we're even, I want a divorce.''
His mouth hung open in disbelief and no sound escaped his lips.
She nodded slowly. ''Good that we agree on that. I'll send the divorce papers to you tomorrow.''
She gave him one last look and went up the small steps to the still open front door and was already closing it behind her when she stopped. She looked down at her hand and pulled of the beautiful gold band.
''That's yours.'', she said before lying it down on the wet stone before her.
He watched with regret in his eyes as his soon-to-be ex-wife shut the wooden door and he was left standing in the cold dark night with rain falling down on his head.
