Hearts of Lions
A/N: Okay. Weird Title. It's just because the story is about true love in Gryffindor. Sorry! I couldn't think of anything else. Probably first Seamus Finnigan/Hermione fic!
"Lavender Brown, you are so incredibly fortunate!" Lavender blushed. "He is so beautiful, and smart, and athletic! I wish he were mine!" Lavender's smile quickly disappeared as she shot Parvati a threatening glare.
"I was only joking," Parvati smiled weakly shrinking against her friend's torturing gaze. Hermione sighed. While the girls were talking, she was on the bed reading a book of course: "Hogwarts A History" for the 988,888,888,888 time. How she loved books. They could mask her feelings from the rest of the world. She could hold them in front of her face, and inside she would be swirling with emotions. Parvati's words kept on echoing through her mind: I wish he were mine. Parvati was only teasing. Hermione knew if she said it, she wouldn't be. She really did wish Seamus Finnigan were hers. Trying to push his picture out of her mind, she tried to direct her thoughts to her book. But this time it didn't work. She cursed herself over, and over about how wrong it was to let herself fall in love with Lavender Brown's boyfriend. But she couldn't help herself.
"Okay, Hermione. Turn out the light." Hermione, obediently flicked the switch on the lamp, and everyone else began to fall asleep in their Gryffindor dormitory beds without a care. Hermione was the only one who stayed up, thinking and thinking. She thought too much. Inside the dormitory, she was as quiet as a light breeze, and in the classroom, she had so much to say. Tonight, she had nothing to say. She just thought. She was afraid to close her eyes for fear of disturbing thoughts about Seamus. She had always secretly loved him, and as a small tear rolled down her eye, she thought he probably never knew.
She had always watched and observed him in class, down the hall, at supper. He really had it all going for him: He was hansome and athletic, he was funny and confident and always so bold. He won the attention of every girl, and he had a beautiful girlfriend. With all that he had, why would he ever stop to think about poor little Hermione who valued intelligence more than beauty? Why would anyone ever look at me? She thought about her mouse brown hair, and her teeth, and how she was too skinny, and too this and too that. She was in her fifth year at Hogwarts now, and she had friends like Harry, and Ron, but she still felt lonely, unbeautiful, unloved. Seamus would never look at her the way she wanted him to….. or so she thought…
A/N: Decided to take a break from Neville's Chronicles and focus a bit more on Hermione in this story. But there will still be more chapters coming for both.
