I own nothing.

He hates that he can never call himself Sonny Monroe's boyfriend.

Not because of his cast. No, he's Chad Dylan Cooper so they would be over it in less than five seconds. But because getting involved with Sonny Monroe would involve crossing many items off the Things Chad Dylan Cooper Doesn't Do list. And as much as he'd like to think she's his only exception, he can't say that he knows it would be worth the risk. He's scared, not that he would ever admit it. Number two; Never be a coward.

He thinks there's a possibility she feels the same way he does, but he can't tell because he's never met anyone as honest as her, and he doesn't even know how to begin to understand her.

They're polar opposites and the exact same person all at once, and that terrifies him, because he knows she's the better version of himself. She's figured out how to be gorgeous and witty and funny without being cocky, but that might be because she doesn't completely realize how amazing she is.

And when he sees he around the studio, he wants nothing more than to tell her how amazing she really is and maybe if she'd like to go mini-golfing sometime, he'd love to take her. But he knows Sonny's not like other girls and he's not sure he would be able to end things when their relationship can no longer qualify as a fling. Commitment is one thing he doesn't do, so he settles for whatever they have now, because it's better than nothing.

He spends almost as much time thinking about her than he does of himself, which he thinks might be the first step to committing to something, so he promises himself he'll think of her less. But it still hurts when he sees her flirting with guys that aren't him.

His favorite part of the day is always when they pass each other in the halls. If he's lucky, she'll talk to him. But he always jeopardizes the conversation with unnecessary comments about So Random! and she ends up storming off. He wants to explain that he doesn't know how to be nice, and he'd love it if she could teach him one day. But he has a sneaking suspicion that she enjoys their little fights and he thinks if she likes him at all, it's that version of him because that's the only one she's ever really seen. He's tried to show him his other (better) side. He dresses up as Weird Beard and surprises her at the end of the Secret Prom, but this part of him never leaves these moments, because while it might be okay to Care for ten minutes, it's not something he does long term.

The best he can hope for is that one day she'll tell him that she likes him, too. After all, Making The First Move is only allowed when there are no feelings involved, which is definitely not the case. Hopefully, she'll understand that he's really going to try to break rules numbers three (Never get involved with a Random), nineteen (Never be nice to a Random), and forty-two (Never watch So Random!), and that it's already too late for number one (Never fall in love). Because he thinks that if she takes him exactly how he is, he can start to make her his exception.

If this ever happens, he thinks the first thing he'll do is cross number twenty-eight off his list and let her be the first girl who's ever held his left hand.
