Disclaimer: I do not own Charmed. Also, the title for this fic was taken from the Hawthorne Heights song 'Saying Sorry'.
It starts with his Dad. Chris has lost count of Leo's sorrys.
---
Mom's sorrys are always connected to Leo.
He wishes she would just stop passing on Dad's empty promises. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over expecting a different result. Actually, that's not entirely true. He's looked it up.
In·san·i·ty (n.): lack of reason or good sense; extreme foolishness or an act that demonstrates it.
How lucky. Either way, it still fits.
---
Paige is sorry because she doesn't have the time.
She has to get back to Magic School. Sam needs me. Adam needs me. Melanie needs me. He wonders if she has ever told anyone Chris needs me.
She hands him a ten dollar bill and tells him to go to a movie, have fun. Chris doesn't go to the movies. Ten dollars wouldn't have covered it.
Besides, it's not so fun, being alone.
---
Phoebe says she's sorry with her eyes.
They share an hour of awkward aunt-nephew bonding time full of safe subjects and slightly curved lips.
And then she goes back to her perfectly balanced family unit, secure in the knowledge that she's done her duty.
---
Wyatt is the last one that has to say he's sorry, but he ends up having the most to be sorry for.
They're having another debate about something that shouldn't be debatable and suddenly Chris feels the back of his head crack against the wall.
"Chris! Chris, I'm sorry," Wyatt says, helping him up.
Chris sees the anguish in his brother's eyes and knows he's sincere, but still, everything seems different now.
---
They know. His secret is finally out after over a year and they know that he's their son, their nephew, Wyatt's brother. They're looking at him, remembering all the harsh words and recriminations, like they can't believe what they've done. Chris knows what they're going to say.
Everyone's always sorry.
Review? No flames please.
