"Honestly, Cat, do you honestly think that anyone will love you with a personality like that?" My mother scolded, causing me to wince at each word.
"I'm…I'm sorry mother…" I tried but it was no use.
"I hope you are. Now continue cleaning. I'm going out tonight with the girls. I don't want to see a speck of dirt anywhere in this house! Do you understand?" I nodded slowly at the person that I am supposed to call my mother. I watched from the ground as she stormed away and out of the house. I waited until I heard the car drive away before I got up and went to get my phone. I sent a quick text to my secret girlfriend telling her that it's safe for her to come over now. I brushed some of the dirt off of my outfit and got ready to see her. The doorbell rang after a few long minutes of waiting and I smoothed out my hair one more time. I opened the door to see my girlfriend, Jade, waiting on the front porch, nervously looking around. I pulled her in quickly and shut the door. We ran up to my room, just to be safe. Once the door was shut and locked, I turned to face her. I threw my arms around her and she hugged me back tightly. I wish we could just stay like this forever, but it is against the Village's rules to be in a relationship with another woman.
Sometimes I wonder, in our fairytale relationship, is there really a such thing as a happy ending?
