Missed

Some people did not like being sick. Kids sometimes saw it as an excuse to miss school but for Baileywick, getting a cold was a curse. Because of this, he was not able to work, help the servants and royals to their duties. Had anything gone a miss while he was in bed? Did everything in the castle run smoothly?

Baileywick didn't dare waste a moment to get up. After being in bed all week and was told yesterday that he was able to get back to work the next day, he cleaned up and put on his gray pants, his usual tuxedo like shirt jacket, slipped his pocket-watch in the familiar pocket, put his shoes and glasses on then walked out of his room.

As he walked around the castle the man realized the servants had did their usual cleaning. Not one speck of dirt was seen anywhere in the castle. Not one vase was overturned or broken. It was like he had not been sick at all.

From what he was told by Roland, Miranda and the children things had went quite well while he doing some bed rest. The maids and other servants had all said the same thing when one of them would be bringing him something to drink for his fluids but he had thought they were all were just saying that so he could rest but it seemed like it was true.

The palace was spic and span. Baileywick couldn't help but smile and see that things could run smoothly without him. Chef Andre had made sure the royals breakfast, lunch and dinner was perfect but who had taken charge of the servants to make sure nothing had gone a miss? Had it been King Roland, Queen Miranda or even Amber...

He was pondering this very thing as he sat down in a chair to take in everything but all a of a sudden he felt someone tap his shoulder to bring him out of his thoughts.

"Violet?"

"It's good to see up and well, Mr. Baileywick. Things around here didn't feel quite the same without you."

"it seems everyone has been able to do everything without my direction. It makes me wonder how all of you where able to remember everything..."

"Well, when King Roland told us you were not well the staff and I tried our best to cover everything for you. We know how much you worry so I volunteered to take over. They all agreed saying "I'd know what you would want done..."

"You..." Baileywick asked in shock.

The brunette maid blushed when she admitted to being in charge. "You-you do so much for all of us, Mr. Bbaileywick and-and missing you gave me the idea that if I covered for you...you wouldn't have to work so hard on your first day back. You should be taking it easy today anyway."

Once he heard all of this Bailywick stood up and clasped her hands in his making the girl's face bush a bit more. "Thank-you for taking over for me, Violet. I couldn't think of a better person to be second in command with the staff."

Violet didn't know either to thank the man for his compliment or give him a 'You're welcome'. "Um..."

"Since the royal family may be reminding me to take it easy today, I guess I can let you be in charge of the servants one more time. And besides I would like to see how the staff does when you taking charge."

"T-thank you, Mr. Baileywick. I'll make sure you won't have to lift a finger!" The woman said in excitement.

"Now, let's don't go that far...!" Baileywwick said as he followed the maid to start with the wake-up duties.

A/N: I hope I got Baileywick and Violet in character. I am so glad to see that I can finally have a Baileywick story for you guys. I wanted to get to this story sooner before my trip to Kentucky with my family tomorrow but it's hard to get myself into writing mode! Please review!
