I didn't want to lose you,

Leave you with a broken heart

But wherever we are,

We're miles apart

And I know that we tried,

But this is the last goodbye

"Move," Andy grunted as she shoved through fellow officers of the 15th division, "Please move."

She made her way quickly through the station coming to a stop outside of the men's locker room. She grits her teeth angrily and stormed in. There was only one occupant in the room, one which didn't turn when the door bust open.

"Can I help you with something, McNally?" Sam Swarek says as he pulls on his grey shirt. He glances behind him with his eyebrows raised.

"Why?" Andy asked, "Why are you doing this?"

Sam sighed and shut his locker door, coming around to fully face her. "You knew from the very beginning that I was waiting for the position to open. Now that it finally has, I'm taking it."

Andy bit her lip and shook her head, "You said you didn't know whether you were taking it."

"Well, I've decided."

"What about Oliver? What about Jerry and Noel?" Andy twisted the ring on her finger, seeing his unfazed face. She desperately played her last card, "What about me?"

Sam sighed and looked down, pointedly eyeing the ring on her finger, "Callaghan will take care of you, McNally. You don't need me."

"Yes I do," she cried, "You're my partner. Who's going to have my back on the streets?"

"You're a good cop." He disagreed quietly, "And the other Rooks'll take care of you. So will Oliver."

"You can't do this." Andy moved closer to Sam, placing her hands in the air as a pleading gesture.

"It's already been done." Sam quickly buckled the belt to his jeans and brushed past her.

"Sam!" She called right as he had his hands on the door knob. He paused and groaned at her tone, begging him to stop.

"I can't keep doing this, Andy." The use of her first name startled her, effectively shutting her up, "It's not fair to you or me."

"I don't-" She began but didn't continue. Sam turned slowly back around to look at her confused, hurt expression.

"I thought that maybe I could live with just being your partner, your friend." He said, "But it won't work. You've chosen Luke and I respect that."

"Sam-"

"No." He growled, "I'm done Andy. I'm sorry, but I'm done."

Andy said nothing. Her face, beautiful in its openness of expressions, crumpled. Sam stared as she anywhere but him. Tears burned the back of her eyes as she cleared her throat. Staring at the ground, she finally nodded. "Well, I'll be here when you get back."

Sam said nothing, merely nodding along to what she said. Truth was he wasn't sure if he was coming back or not. Studying her face one more time for memory, Sam took a deep breath and walked forward; tipping Andy's head up and crushing his lips to hers.

Finally, after a few moments, he released her and walked out the door without another word. Pushing a hand through her tangled hair, Andy whispered to the empty locker room, "Goodbye Sam."

I didn't want to let you down,

But wherever we are

We're miles apart,

And I know that we tried,

But this is the last goodbye

So this was something I wrote after listening to David Cook's 'The Last Goodbye'. I had strated it before Andy got engaged, but I never finished it until this morning...

If I do say so myself, I think that we are having a relly good Rookie Blue season thus far and I hope for more material to write with.

As always, I'd appreciate if you told me what you thought.
